    The Global HR Business Partner will provide leadership on cross-organizational HR projects and initiatives, working with a wide variety of stakeholders on employment and performance management matters.

     

    By understanding the BU global programs as well assigned schools/departments’ goals and objectives, the Global HR Business Partner will provide day-to-day consulting support on all employee and labor relations topics, serving as a focal point and liaison with central HR functions (Labor Relations, Employment, Compensation, Benefits, OD & Staff Development) to meet customer HR needs. In addition, they will proactively ensure that customers receive collaborative support from all areas within HR, and that HR practices are aligned with Boston University policies.

     

    The Global HR Business Partner will plan, conduct and coordinate the development and administration of HR programs for all global locations as well as assigned domestic customer departments.

     

    While consulting with department leadership on workforce planning issues and proactively resolve employee relations and labor relations matters, the Global HR Business partner will:

    • Global Mobility, PEO, Taxation and Payroll
      • Manage non US international expatriate assignment setups and repatriation to ensure compliance with employment law, work authorization requirements and tax regulations in conjunction with Global Programs, Comptroller and Office of the General Counsel)
      • Partner with Finance, Global Programs and Schools/Colleges/Departments on the induction and management of external vendors for tax, immigration, payroll, professional employer organization (PEO) and international payrolls.
      • Manage the process for hiring Host Country Nationals in non US locations where the university has no registered presence through PEO organizations to ensure compliance with local statutory employment, social security, tax and benefit requirements.
      • Remediate issues pertaining to global mobility, tax, payroll and employment in conjunction with Global Programs, departments, Office of the General Counsel and Finance.
    • Provide day-to-day HR support for both global and domestic non-represented and represented staff, as well as faculty. Ensure that customers receive collaborative support from all areas within HR, and that HR practices are aligned with Boston University policies.
    • Conduct work place investigations (often in concert with other University departments) to ensure thorough, equitable resolution of employee issues.
    • Liaise with key HR and University departments in areas of Workers Compensation, Labor Relations, Equal Opportunity, Compliance, Safety and Security and Employment Law.
    • Coordinate the administration of HR programs for assigned departments.
    • Consult with assigned department management on all workforce planning issues, and proactively resolve employee and labor relations issues.
    • Coach and counsel staff and managers.
    • Collect, analyze and summarize key metrics around staff engagement and work with managers to support a healthy work environment.
    • Lead cross-organizational teams on HR policy matters, clarifying project objectives, establishing timetables, conducting research and presenting team recommendations to senior HR management.
    • Represent HR on University committees addressing workplace issues.

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree in HR management or related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 8 years of HR experience with at least 5 years related experience working on global HR issues across Americas, EMEA and Asia.
    • Must be results-oriented with a strong customer service orientation and ability to operate at all levels of an organization in a highly complex environment.
    • Desire and ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural organization and demonstrated ability to harmonize processes, policies, programs and HR best practices.
    • In-depth experience in Employee Relations and at least one other specialized HR area. Experience with SAP (or similar Enterprise Resource system) strongly preferred.
