OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT:
Marlborough is seeking a dynamic educator to teach any level of upper school mathematics from Algebra 1 through Calculus. Responsibilities include a full teaching load of four courses as well as leading an advisory group. Each course involves a team of committed teachers who work together to ensure that students have a consistent experience in mathematics during each year at Marlborough. Marlborough’s Mathematics Department prepares students for college-level mathematics, teaches students to become independent problem solvers, and strives to motivate students to appreciate the elegance and wonder of mathematics.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach four mathematics classes
Collaborate with fellow mathematics teachers in teaching teams, contributing to lesson preparation as needed
Plan, prepare and deliver engaging mathematics lessons for the appropriate developmental level
Adhere to Marlborough’s academic policies, guidelines, and expectations
Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, student services, deans, and other administrators
Monitor and report on student progress, utilizing Marlborough’s learning management system to take attendance, provide curriculum materials and maintain a digital gradebook
Serve as a grade-level advisor to a group of approximately 12 students
Participate actively in grade-level and school activities
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or equivalent
Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience
An ability to teach any level of Mathematics from Algebra 1 through Calculus
Experience using TI graphing calculators, preferably with the TI-Nspire CX
Possess a high degree of interest in supporting the developmental needs of teenagers with the ability to combine high expectations with a high level of support
