    OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT:

    We are seeking a dynamic teacher to teach middle school physical science, especially chemistry and physics as taught in our 8th grade course, as well as upper school physics. Our middle school students develop a strong conceptual understanding through the exploration of essential questions, hands-on activities and lab experiences, and real-world data collection. Assignments and activities develop the ability to manipulate equations, graph and analyze data, exercise critical-thinking skills, and create and perform laboratory procedures. The 8th grade course is taught by a team of middle school educators that work closely together to assure students in all sections have a consistent experience. Upper school physics focuses on developing strong mental models of physics and emphasizes learning as a process that involves opportunities to grow and learn from mistakes.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Teach four science classes

    Collaborate with fellow science teachers in teaching teams, contributing to lesson preparation as needed

    Plan, prepare and deliver engaging science lessons for the appropriate developmental level

    Adhere to Marlborough’s academic policies, guidelines, and expectations

    Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, student services, deans, and other administrators

    Monitor and report on student progress, utilizing Marlborough’s learning management system to take attendance, provide curriculum materials, and maintain a digital gradebook

    Serve as a grade-level advisor to a group of approximately 12 students

    Participate actively in grade-level and school activities

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    Bachelor’s Degree in a physical science or equivalent

    Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience

    An ability to fully commit to teaching at the middle school level

    Possess a high degree of interest in supporting the developmental needs of teenagers with the ability to combine high expectations with a high level of support

    We welcome applicants with additional experience in robotics and programming
