Assistant Debate Coach
Reports to: Debate Program Head
Salary Range: $16.78 per hour
Marlborough School, an independent, college preparatory school in Los Angeles for 530 young women in grades 7-12, seeks a dynamic part-time Assistant Debate Coach to join our Debate team for the 2023 - 2024 school year.

Responsibilities: The Assistant Debate Coach provides support to the Debate Program Head with research and argument preparation, student instruction, coaching and judging at debate tournaments, and student supervision.
YEAR-ROUND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Adheres to the rules, regulations, practices, and policies of Marlborough School.
· Assists the Debate Program Head as needed.
SEASON RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pre-Season:
· Completes all school-required training programs and certifications.
· Supports preseason research, argument construction, and practice.
During Season:
· Attends after-school debate practices twice a week from 3:15PM to 5:15PM.
· Regularly attends debate tournaments to support the team via coaching, judging, and supervising students.
· Teaches and models the highest standards of ethical research and academic honesty.
· Refers any concerns about student wellbeing or discipline to the Debate Program Head.
· Maintains appropriate boundaries and interacts with students according to professional standards.
· Helps with team administrative tasks as needed, such as helping run Marlborough-hosted tournaments and the end-of-season debate banquet.
· Has primary responsibility for planning World Schools Debate practice once a week, and planning and supporting World Schools Debate argument preparation.
Job Requirements:
· The ideal candidate should have experience competing in or coaching Lincoln-Douglas or Policy debate in national circuit tournaments, and have experience competing in or coaching World Schools Debate.
· Covid-19 Vaccination Required.
