Assistant Water Polo Coach
Reports to: Athletic Director
Salary Range: $25.00 to $40.00 per hour
Founded in 1889, Marlborough School is an independent girls college-preparatory school for grades 7 through 12 located in Los Angeles, California. Responsibilities: The Assistant Water Polo Coach provides support to the Head Coach with leadership, supervision and organization for the Marlborough School Water Polo Program and is responsible for carrying out the objectives of the entire athletic program within the guidelines of the Marlborough Mission and the Athletic Department Philosophy.
YEAR-ROUND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Keeps abreast of new ideas and techniques by attending clinics and workshops, conducting research within their field of expertise, and encouraging other coaches to do the same.
● Remains knowledgeable of rules and regulations concerning their sport, and keeps abreast of changes.
● Adheres to the rules, regulations, practices, and policies of Marlborough School.
● Remains active in professional organizations such as the state coaches association.
● Assists the Head Coach and Athletic Director as needed.
SEASON RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pre-Season:
● Leads pre-season training and skill sessions.
● Assists the Head Coach and Athletic Trainer with ensuring all athletes are cleared for participation.
● Reviews the School’s policy on accident reporting and insurance procedures.
● Familiarizes self with Marlborough Student and Employee Handbook and explains to athletes all pertinent School policies and regulations.
● Provides the Athletic Director with proof of Red Cross, First Aid and CPR certification, as well as all other required training.
During Season:
● Assists with Varsity, JV, or Middle School teams in season at practices and competitions.
● Assists Head Coach with ongoing care of equipment and facilities being used.
● Assists with course setup and game management as necessary throughout season.
● Applies the restorative approach to discipline in a firm and positive manner as outlined in the School and athletic policy. [1]
● Ensures that facility regulations are understood and enforced.
● Emphasizes safety precautions and uses accepted training and injury procedures.
● Conducts oneself and teams in an ethical manner during practices and in contests.
● Collaborates with the Athletic Director on all general correspondence and bulletins to student athletes and parents and copies the Athletic Director on every communication.
● Accompanies and directs the varsity team and assistant coaches, in all interscholastic activities.
● Attends all Athletic Department scheduled meetings.
Job Requirements:
● The ideal candidate should possess at a minimum a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
● A minimum of 2 years of coaching experience at the secondary, club or collegiate level.
● Covid-19 Vaccination Required.
