    OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT

    Marlborough School seeks an engaged, highly organized, dynamic Middle School instructor to join our faculty for the 2023-2024 school year. This will be a part-time position.

    The Science Department prepares students for college-level science in a curriculum structured so that students have an opportunity to discover, explore, manipulate, contemplate, and experience real science. Laboratory and classroom experiences foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills that enable students to take charge of their life-long learning process. The laboratory, in particular, is a place for students to test their ability to think critically and creatively while working cooperatively with their peers. Students develop confidence in their ability to perform science and proficiency with laboratory equipment, including Pasco data collection systems.

    This position would focus on Middle School physical science, especially chemistry and physics, as taught in our 8th grade course.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Collaborate with fellow Science teachers in teaching teams.

    Maintain a safe laboratory and classroom environment.

    Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging science lessons for the appropriate developmental level.

    Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, student services, deans, and other administrators.

    Teach two Science courses.

    Utilize Marlborough’s learning management system to take attendance, provide curriculum materials, and maintain a digital gradebook.

    Participate actively in grade-level and school activities.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

    Possess, at minimum, a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Science or related discipline.

    Has at least three years of demonstrated success teaching Science.

    Comfortable with teaching Middle School Physical Science.

    Excellent organizational skills, including experience with a learning management system.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Proficient computer skills with Google Drive and Microsoft Windows Office products.

    Committed to personal growth and development in education.

    Dedication to the development of young women, including experience and enthusiasm for positive identity development and diversity, equity, and inclusion work.

    Enjoys collaborating with other teachers on curriculum development, lesson plans, and pedagogy.

    Possess a high degree of interest in supporting the developmental needs of teenagers with the ability to combine high expectations with a high level of support.

    COMPENSATION

    Salary ranging from $1,350 - $1,600/bi-weekly
