The successful candidate will be responsible for learning a broad range of professional and technical functions required to prepare the districts payroll, accounts payable, budget, and financial statements. Essential Functions: -Shadowing members of the accounting department as they perform their duties. -Assisting with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records. -Assisting in the preparation of financial reports. -Working with Accounting Software. -Handling sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity. -Learning how to work as part of the Accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the mission of Mead School District. -Taking on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and office operations. -Perform a variety of accounting functions, including accounts receivable, cash receipting, accounts payable, general ledger, grants management, and payroll. -Assisting in the creation/documenting of policies, procedures, and training materials for the Business Office. Qualifications: -Applicant must be a declared Business Administration student or closely related field. Accounting major preferred. -Ability to identify routine problems and propose feasible solutions, make improvements or take corrective action. -Ability to prioritize work and multi-task effectively. -Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines. -Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand. -Must be team oriented but also able to work independently. -Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. -High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
