    ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR FOR MEDICAL ASSISTANT

    Community College of Denver is seeking individuals with demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive learning and work environment.  CCD values the ability to work effectively with students, families, faculty, instructors and staff of diverse backgrounds. 

     

    PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB:

    Adjunct instructor(s) need to teach specific laboratory and/or lecture courses as well as oversee internship assignments at local hospitals as scheduled.  

     

    MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    EXPERIENCE:       Two (2) years teaching experience.

     

    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

    • Registered / Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA certified CMA or CCMA or AMT certified RMA) or Licensed Vocational Nurse, Registered Nurse with understanding of MA scope of practice.

     

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of back office skills.

    • Displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.

    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

    • Computer skill proficiency; particularly in M/S Office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

    • Experience with online course management systems and classroom Smart Room technology.

    • Ability to work with people from varied backgrounds and situations, and is sensitive to individual differences.

    • Experience with classroom instruction and curriculum development.

    • Knowledge of education theory and techniques.

    • Knowledge of college and college system policies.

    • Ability to work collaboratively with program faculty, Dean, and other college employees.

    • Ability to implement new policies, and ensure compliance with accrediting agencies.

    • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products, D2L, and other computer software as necessary.

    • Ability to teach billing and coding courses.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    EDUCATION:         Associate degree from an accredited institution.

     

    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:     CPR/FA certified (AHA).

    • Must have a knowledge of grants preparation and management
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
    • Program planning and implementation skills
    • Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures
    • Comprehensive working knowledge of the College’s financial system (BANNER)
    • Ability to take initiative and work independently is required
    • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to exercise good judgment in a timely fulfillment of responsibilities
