  • Responsibilities

    The Program Coordinator for Bloomberg Scholarship Fund will be responsible for “Media Documentation” which is an explicit requirement of maintaining the Bloomberg grant funds. Specifically, the Coordinator is required to document the Program by facilitating and/or producing publications, audio or video programming, film or other media regarding the Program. This particular effort will be coordinated and directed by the Bloomberg Scholarship Fund Coordinator. In addition, the Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Bloomberg Scholarship Fund Director with creating and compiling periodic reports in accordance with the delivery schedule set by the Bloomberg.

     

    • Engagement of counsel to document and report the activities of the gift beneficiaries, through publications, electronic media, social media components and news media pitching including scholar features and profiles to spotlight the successes resulting from the Bloomberg/Meharry relationship under the direction of the Office of Institutional Advancement; • Assist with generating periodic reports in accordance with the Bloomberg Scholarship Fund Report schedule; • Coordinate the activities of the program and set priorities for managing the program; • Manage marketing and outreach to the community as it relates to the Bloomberg Scholars Program; • Preparation and Coordination of Bloomberg Scholars travel requests; • Preparation and Coordination of Bloomberg Scholars bi-annual meeting; • Work in conjunction with the Scholarship Committee to ensure all Bloomberg scholarship awards are awarded timely; • Maintain an ongoing record of all equipment purchased through the Bloomberg Scholars Program by working with the Office of Business and Finance in the School of Medicine; • Work in conjunction with all the Associate Dean(s) in the School of Medicine to ensure the Bloomberg Scholar Fund goals are met; • Work with Bloomberg Scholar recipients to ensure all documentation related to approved Board Review Prep Course is submitted timely to the Office of Business and Finance in the School of Medicine;

    Required Skills

    • This position will require knowledge of the use and management of the Education Management Solutions (EMS) system (training will be provided). • A background in marketing and communications is preferred • Knowledge of Blackboard preferred • Must be able to exercise good judgment in timely fulfillment of responsibilities and meet deadlines, while expertly handling multiple tasks and priorities • Must be well-organized and pay attention to details • Ability to take initiative to be a self-starter and work independently • Must be proficient utilizing cloud and videoconferencing services such as One Drive, Google Docs, Blackboard Collaborate, etc. for virtual communications and storage and must have the ability and willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and concepts

    Required Experience

    • Bachelors’ degree required from an accredited college or university required • Four years of experience working in academic medicine • Four years of experience working in marketing and communications • Knowledge of grant management • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community • Demonstrated ability to effectively gather and organize information from a variety of sources, and to concurrently coordinate programs and services • Must understand the mission of the institution, and should possess knowledge and understanding of relevant trends and issues in medical education, including community service
