    WESTWOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC. is seeking a Senior Distribution Engineer to join our team in our Lansdale, PA office. The Senior Distribution Engineer is primarily responsible for the cost-effective conceptual and engineering solutions to upgrade, expand, maintain, and automate overhead and underground power distribution systems for our clients using various software systems and engineering/construction standards. The Senior Distribution Engineer ensures compliance with client procedures, design standards, state and federal regulatory requirements and safety code requirements. The Senior Distribution Engineer will act as a mentor to less experienced engineers on their team and, at times, will work closely with engineers performing substation, transmission, renewable energy, power storage, and communication design. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. 

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work with a team of other Distribution Engineers to complete projects for multiple clients across the U.S. ranging from Simple Service designs to Multi-Year Rebuilds/Tie Line Programs. • Willingness to travel to project sites, as necessary, to gather data and interface with clients. • Perform all aspects of designing OH/UG distribution line projects. (line routing, finite element analysis, hardware/conductor selection, technical support during construction, One-Calls, DOT and municipality permitting, right-of-way requests, electrical one-line diagrams) • Possess a deep understanding of each deliverable necessary for the project at hand. Including, but not limited to, plan & profiles, structure load analysis, structure framing, bill of materials and design drawings. • Coordinate internal/external reviews of designs completed prior to final submission. • Maintain great relationships with our existing clients and seek out opportunities with potential future clients.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Civil/Structural, Mechanical or Multi-Disciplinary Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program. • This is a senior level position requiring 3+ years of experience in Power Distribution Design. • Professional disposition and the ability to be open-minded in regards to planning and execution of assigned projects. • Must be able to effectively manage a significant number of projects and mentor less experienced engineers while maintaining work product quality, consistency, accuracy, and reliability. • Advanced knowledge of overhead and/or underground Distribution facilities and understanding of its integration into daily activities. • Experience with NESC, ASCE and IEEE standards • Proficiency in MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project)

     

    FOR PREFERRED CONSIDERATION (NOT REQUIRED):

    • EIT with the ability to become registered PE. • Proficiency with AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, PoleForeman, PolyWater Pull-Planner, O-Calc, SPIDAcalc, GIS, IKE

    Basic knowledge of applicable codes and standards as well as project procedures

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills

    Understanding of multiple engineering disciplines

    Must possess a DOE “L” clearance or the ability to obtain a DOE “L” Clearance
