    Custodian, Facility Services Location Northwest--Maryville campus in Maryville, MO Job Type Full-time Department Facility Services Job Number 804690 * Description * Benefits Description PRIMARY DUTY: The Custodian will perform various custodial duties to include but not limited to the cleaning of restrooms, lounges, offices, classrooms, and corridors in accordance within the standard operating procedures of the department. The Custodian must be flexible and show the ability to work as a part of a team with a willingness to accept guidance and directives from the Custodial Supervisor and/or Custodial Manager. Essential Functions ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Clean, stock, and sanitize areas using established practices and procedures2. Use authorized cleaning supplies and equipment to keep the interior of the buildings looking clean and professional3. Adhere to the company's safety policies to create a safe work environment for everyone4. Secure and lock assigned areas5. Assist with event set-up and tear down6. Use and maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and report all repairs needed7. Assist in cleaning of spills8. Change light bulbs throughout campus as needed9. Observe and report the need of repairs throughout campus10. Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school diploma Certification/License: Driver's license Experience: One year of related experience Skills: Basic communication skills; basic computer skills; reliable; professional work ethic PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: One year of cleaning experience Additional Job Information WORKING CONDITIONS: Custodial Services is divided into three shifts: 6:00 a.m. 2:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m. 10:30 p.m., and 10:00 p.m. 6:30 a.m. Each shift will include a thirty-minute lunch break. This position may work various hours depending on the needs of the department with occasional weekend coverage. This position may be exposed to cold and hot conditions throughout the shift. This position must demonstrate safety responsibility and the ability to wear all personal protective equipment (PPE). This position is considered essential staff. Essential staff provide services that relate directly to the health, safety, and welfare of the University, ensure continuity of key operations, and maintain and protect University properties. Should the University close for any reason, essential staff will report to work as usual. EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED: Custodial cleaning equipment, custodial chemicals, office machines, lifts, and motor vehicles TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires the ability to walk, stand, bend, and/or reach, as well as climb a ladder and clear snow and ice when needed; Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate standard custodial equipment COMMUNITY: Northwest Missouri State University is located in Maryville, Missouri, a community of 12,000 with a diverse economy, and a strong industrial base.
