    On-Call Driver, Facility Services Location Northwest--Maryville campus in Maryville, MO Job Type Part-time Department Facility Services Job Number 80000 * Description * Benefits Description PRIMARY DUTY: The On-call Driver will provide exceptional customer service to passengers while operating University buses in a safe, timely, and professional manner while managing all aspects of safety, route proficiency, and mechanical issues. Essential Functions ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Drive University buses in all types of weather conditions that may consist of long distance and overnight trips and look out for the safety of all passengers, their property, and the property of the University2. Be courteous and thoughtful of passengers and all individuals sharing the roadway and display professional conduct and appearance while on duty3. Inspect assigned bus and vehicles and maintain them in a clean, orderly and safe condition, including exterior and interior cleaning, fueling/oil, and reporting and coordinating repair maintenance4. Drive shuttles, vans, and cars in support of all University events5. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and report concerns and deficiencies to the supervisor and/or mechanics6. Maintain necessary logs, inspection reports, bill of landings, mileage, fuel tickets, tolls, meals, and hours worked (regular and overtime) for billings to vendors and departments on University trips7. Keep up-to-date on Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and University rules including Hours of Service and Driving Time and apply the rules to all trips8. Perform all other duties as assigned Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school diploma Certification/License: Class B CDL and Passenger Endorsement (or the ability to obtain a Passenger Endorsement within 30 days of hire) Skills: Ability to handle job-related stress that comes from road conditions, weather, customers, other drivers, unforeseen circumstances, emergencies, and last minute schedule changes; Ability to communicate well with customers and fellow drivers; ability to function efficiently without direct supervision; demonstrate pride in work and care of equipment; possess and maintain positive attitude Other: Maintain a safe driving record and be able to keep appropriate licenses, medical certificates, and other requirements as needed for the position PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school diploma plus technical school training as a bus driver Experience: A minimum of two years of experience as a professional driver Additional Job Information WORKING CONDITIONS: This position will require flexibility and will be responsible for some long distance and overnight trips possibly during weekends and/or holidays. This position is considered essential staff. Essential staff provide services that relate directly to the health, safety, and welfare of the University, ensure continuity of key operations, and maintain and protect University properties. Should the University close for any reason, essential staff will report to work as usual. This position must purchase and maintain a cellular device and service that will be used for work functions. This position must be responsible for plan choices, calling areas, service features, terminations clauses, and paying for all charges associated with the cellular device and service.
