    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Responsible for the safe and effective operation of computerized mobile cranes. Will operate a stationary or traveling crane to lift, move, position, and reposition loads. They will receive direction from riggers and/or site supervision via verbal or hand signals to determine the required load movement.

    This position will travel up to 75% and when not traveling will be based out of our Baltimore, Maryland office; a beautiful place to work!

    Education & Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Five (5) years of verifiable experience operating cranes
    • 3-5 years experience in Heavy Civil Projects and Pile Driving
    • Prior experience leading crews is strongly preferred
    • Must have prior experience in rigging and signaling and bridge operations
    • Experience operating additional equipment is strongly preferred
    • Prefer OCONUS experience operating equipment in an environment with military services, commercial agencies, and host nation elements
    • Additional experience and education requirements may vary by assignment.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensure all work is carried out within the contract, within in their area of specialism, by Ballard and Client HSE procedures.
    • Effectively plan dive jobs and deploy all equipment needed promptly for cost-effectiveness.
    • Ensure that all personnel arriving on the worksite are fully briefed about the work plan, dive systems, and operational and safety requirements and disciplines
    • Actively monitor and control budgets and project expenditures within the business unit.
    • Maintain quality controls for all operational activities per relevant standards and specifications, as required by regional authorities.
    • Ensure accurate completion of all job-specific, employee-related paperwork including timesheets, daily job reports, dive logs, JHAs, dive plans, and inspection results.
    • Ensure that all relevant operating instructions, manuals, decompression tables, treatment schedules, and regulatory publications are available at the dive location and are maintained to reflect current changes and/or developments.
    • Ensure detailed briefings with the diving teams and support personnel, including identifying tasks to be undertaken and unusual hazards or environmental conditions.

     PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORKING ENVIRONMENT

    • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds, bend, stoop, and work safely around equipment, materials, supplies, and other items to be handled

    • Ability to remain outdoors for long periods in various seasons and conditions.

    • Long hours and exposure to strenuous conditions

    • Climb ladders, work at heights, walk and stand on uneven surfaces, ride, or work from a barge, pier, vessel, etc.

    • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, squat, push, pull, etc. for varying amounts of time.

    • Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (day/night/weekend)

    Required Skills

    Skills & Certifications:

    • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner (verbal and written)
    • Able to read and understand heavy construction plans
    • Able to work in a team environment
    • Works well must work in a high-demand environment
    • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and ANSI standards in crane operations
    • Equipment Operator training and certification from the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO), verifiable military or civilian Equipment Operator training from the construction field, or related certification issued by a previous employer
    • Ability to obtain, through evaluation, the certification to operate computerized mobile cranes up to eighty (80) tons
    • Valid driver’s license
