    Paraeducator/Office Assistant II, Job 17-589 Mukilteo School District 20 reviews - Everett, WA 98204 $19.36 - $22.38 an hour This is a 6.75 hour per day, 180 day per year position at Odyssey Elementary (4.75 hours paraeducator and 2 hours office assistant). Hours for this position are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. The successful candidate will provide student supervision; office support; student attendance tracking and daily calls; and back up support for solution room staff. Preferred qualifications: Experience with student data entry and school attendance procedures; Spanish language proficiency. Rate of pay for Paraeducator is $18.73 to $24.00 per hour; rate of pay for Office Assistant is $19.36 to $22.38 per hour. Applicant must meet qualifications for both Office Assistant II and Paraeducator and will be a member of MACP and MESP unions. Salary listed is for the 2017-2018 school year. JOB TITLE : Office Assistant II/Paraeducator JOB CLASSIFICATION: Office Assistant MACP Paraeducator - MESP REPORTS TO: Principal JOB SUMMARY (OFFICE ASSISTANT): Perform a variety of clerical duties to assist students, staff, and parents and the general public. JOB SUMMARY (PARAEDUCATOR): Assist the teacher with planning, preparation and delivery of a quality instructional program based upon state standards, district curriculum, and effective instruction for students with diverse learning needs. Supervise students at recess, in the cafeteria, library, assistance for students riding the bus, and perform crossing guard duties before and after school. May assist with implementation of special education services for students i.e., IEP goals, medical assistance, physical support and personal care. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (OFFICE ASSISTANT): Provide clerical support, answer phones; respond to inquiries from staff, parents, students and general public; direct inquiries to appropriate personnel; schedule appointments; and assist with other duties as directed for the purpose of providing quality customer service. Process various documents and perform functions such as process mail and respond to inquiries; prepare and mail correspondence; responsible for a variety of information record keeping i.e., fiscal and/or student records; document filing, tracking information, data entry, etc. May assist with student health needs. May serve as a designated first aid provider. May assist with supervision and monitoring of students. Word process, type, copy, collate, sort, file and distribute documents to support the efficient operation of school office services. Prioritize and organize tasks for the purpose of meeting deadlines, accessibility of information, and completing job duties in a timely manner. Comply with District Policies. Perform other duties as required or assigned by supervisor(s) for the purpose of maintaining an organized and efficient environment. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (PARAEDUCATOR): Assist teacher(s) with the daily supervision of students for the purpose of maintaining and providing a safe and positive learning environment. Under the teachers direction, administer multiple student tests, collect and maintain diagnostic and test data, update student records, and assess student progress. Assist teacher(s) with monitoring and managing student behavior and progress; share observations with teacher(s) and other professional staff. Assist teacher(s) with implementation of various strategies to address diverse student needs and support individual educational growth and achievement goals. Provide clerical and general classroom assistance for staff, which may include collection and data entry of information, correspondence, copying, filing, and preparation of classroom materials. Administer first aid, medical assistance, physical support and personal care for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill, medically fragile, and/or disabled children. Provide physical assistance for students with special needs such as feeding, toileting, proper lifting and positioning of students in and out of chairs and with adaptive equipment; assist students with the use specific equipment related to their disability (e.g., materials, assistive technology, visual aids). Track and dispense authorized student medications. Perform crossing guard duties before and after school to supervise and monitor students. Assist with monitoring students in the cafeteria and/or at recess; assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment for student safety and well-being. Participate in meetings and training for the purpose of sharing information, improving the employee skills and knowledge, implementing school initiatives and addressing student needs. Comply with District Policies. Maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regularly work hours specified. Knowledge of computer applications used to assist with student learning Ability to strengthen job-related competencies EDUCATION/TRAINING (OFFICE ASSISTANT): High school diploma or its equivalent Word process with accuracy at 50 w.p.m. Must pass the clerical testing at the Office Assistant II level. Vocational or technical clerical training preferred Current First Aid/CPR Certification (Required for Designated First Aid Providers) EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION (PARAEDUCATOR): High school diploma or its equivalent Two years of study at an institution of higher education (72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits), or have obtained an associates (or higher) degree or have successfully passed the Para Pro Assessment developed by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). Valid Washington Driver's License, with acceptable driving record Depending on assignment, may be required to complete behavior modification programs, including safe physical restraining techniques and/or other training as required. EXPERIENCE (OFFICE ASSISTANT): One (1) year of applicable office or clerical experience. Vocational or technical clerical training may substitute for work experience.
