Cobbossee is a 4-week, 2-session sleepaway summer camp in Maine. The dates for this position run from June 9th to August 10th, 2024. For more information on what summer camping actually is, see the very bottom of this document!

We are looking for a caring nanny to look after two infant boys this summer. These boys are the sons of a returning Canadian couple on our leadership staff, one boy is newborn and the other is 3. These staff members hold leadership positions on our team and have done for multiple years. The mother is not employed this year and will be a full time caretaker of the boys and will need assistance with them or to take breaks throughout the day and summer starting from July 1st, when they arrive.

Outside of the nannying hours and before the family arrive July 1st, we would like this role to attend full staff orientation to be professionally prepared to work with all of our boys. The right applicant will join in our daily program, especially with our 2nd-4th grade campers. This would be a counselor position, with nannying hours scheduled directly with the boys whilst enjoying periods off and a role in the wider community of camp.

Outside of your working shift we want you to get as much as you can out of the camp experience. In your free time you can use our gym, hang out in our air-conditioned staff lounge, swim in the lake, climb in our trees or join in any of our sports or activity sessions alongside the rest of the community. This is a nannying position, but also much more.

Bed and Board is covered all summer, same gender shared accommodation is provided for all staff. Every meal is provided by camp. The food is famously good at Cobbossee. No, really, it is, our chef, Louis has been here for 33 years creating delicious food for everyone at Cobbossee. We also provide great vegan and vegetarian options.

Further, days off and nights out are spent with other adventurous folks like you. Our counselors make lifelong friends at Cobbossee. Many return year-to-year.

We have an on-site laundry facility and provide transport for days off out into Maine, which is a paradise in summer.

All over the northeast each summer, families send their boys and girls up to New England to spend anywhere from a couple weeks to the entire summer at a sleepaway camp. Sometimes people who are not from the east coast see this as a strange choice, maybe even a mean choice! “Don’t they like their kids?” the question goes. Of course they do. They love their children and it’s hard for them to be away from them for the time they are at camp. But parents sacrifice time with their kids in the summer because summer camp is really good for young children.
