    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    Tower Bridge International Group (TBIG) invites applications for a part-time contractor, project-based High School Science Curriculum Developer. The role of the curriculum developer is to create, evaluate and revise high school curricula that are aligned to the national educational standards in the field of international education for at least one of the science subject matters: biology, chemistry, physics, physical science, earth science, environmental science, geology, geography, engineering, and more.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    Serving as Subject Matter Expert(s) in curriculum design in at least one of the high school science subjects (including but not limited to biology, chemistry, physics, physical science, earth and environmental science);

    Developing/revising/reviewing science curricula at high school level in alignment with national educational standards, with a concentrated focus on the following areas:

    • textbook selections
    • curriculum and curriculum guides
    • pacing guides
    • course syllabi
    • unit plans
    • assessments

     

    Modifying science curricula for schools and organizations that work with English language learners;

    Developing and implementing trainings to instructors to support the utilization of the curriculum and standard alignment;

    Collaborating with program managers, other curriculum developers, instructors, and other internal and external partners; 

    Keeping abreast of the industry trends and best practices in STEM education and international education.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, Education, Science, or a related field;

    High school science teaching certificate or education administration certificate, preferred;

    Minimum five years of instructional/curriculum experience in at least one of the high school science subjects (including but not limited to biology, chemistry, physics, physical science, earth science, environmental science, geology, geography, and engineering);

    Minimum of two years of direct experience in high school science curricula design/development/consulting is highly preferred;

    Experience in serving in the curriculum committee at the school, district and state level is preferred.  

    Experience in working with English language learners is preferred;

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

    Knowledge of current techniques and procedures used in the design and development of high school science curricula and STEM education;

    Knowledge of educational standards, including but not limited to Common Core State Standards and NGSS;

    Knowledge of teaching and learning processes, practices and research;

    Knowledge of English language learner needs and issues;  

    Ability to research, develop and present projects;

    Ability to evaluate curricula and make recommendations for improvements;  

    Ability to work independently and work with culturally and linguistically diverse teams.

    Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines;  

    Good computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and presentation skills;

    Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills and attention to detail;  

    Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
