    SUMMARY:

    New York Edge is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and data-driven individual to fill the role of Budget Analyst. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for ensuring that New York Edge is in compliance with the negotiated budgets of a portfolio of government contracts. The analyst also ensures data integrity, timely funder invoices, and budget monitoring.

    $60,000 - $65,000

    SCHEDULE:

    Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm

    No. This position requires you to work on-site at our main office in Woodside, Queens.

    PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist Manager of Budgets and Compliance in all areas.
    • Develop and upload original budgets to Funding Source sites.
    • Monthly, quarterly and ad hoc financial analysis.
    • Interact with the various department heads, funders and executives to provide insightful and actionable financial analysis.
    • Handle multiple assignments in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment with extensive direct interaction with Program departments and funders.
    • Provide financial modeling, financial analysis for a variety of special projects that may include new funding, new business initiatives, and other ad-hoc projects.
    • Assist in the upgrade of reporting accuracy through the pursuit of continuous process improvement.
    • Submit timely budget modifications to funders.
    • Develop and implement financial and operational reports to monitor and evaluate performance.
    • Develop and maintain financial reports to optimize forecasting, tracking and analysis of spending rates compared to budget.
    • Utilize financial systems to extract data to develop and update key financial reports.
    • On an ongoing basis monitor contracts for potential problems related to over or under spending of budgets – so that revenue is optimized.
    • Communicate effectively with Program staff.
    • Develop expertise in fiscal policies of public/private contracting agencies, so that recorded expenses and invoices comply with Funder requirements.
    • Assist Director of Finance in preparation and review of financial reports (PERS) for funding agencies for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
    • Prepare and submit monthly invoice reimbursement requests for various government sources such as DYCD, 21st Century funding, United Way, and New York State.
    • Work on ad-hoc projects as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • BA or BS in Finance, Economics, Business, or Public Administration
    • 3+ years related experience for a non-profit Organization
    • Experience working with cross-functional and inter-department teams.
    • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated Microsoft Excel proficiency
    • Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail as well as the ability to work under pressure
    • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
    • Accounting software experience
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
