    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Under supervision of the Curriculum Manager, the Experiential Learning Development Specialist is responsible for the learning design of Experiential Learning Activities (ELA). This role will lead the assessment, development, implementation, evaluation and refinement ELA through innovation and technology learning components for courses within General Education, and programs for Nursing Educations Services. The Experiential Learning Development Specialist is accountable for the learning and instructional design, as well as consultation on training for,  intervention skill-based learning (aka skills labs), virtual case-based client care (aka simulation) as well as supervised on-ground field experiences (aka clinical), and applied field experiences (aka preceptorship). This is a nonfaculty position.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Experiential Learning Development Specialist will lead the development of creative and innovative solutions for the incorporation of Experiential Learning Activities (ELA) into the curriculum by demonstrating the following: 

    (1) Extend the acquisition of concept-based theory through application within ELA learning design. 

    (2) Develop, present, evaluate and refine learning design for experiential learning activities, in compliance with federal, state, and College policies  and best practices, for a broad range of health and medical related situations to create a realistic and engaging learning environment for pre-nursing and nursing learners. 

    (3) Evaluate outcomes on course and program-level basis; prepare report summaries for accreditation self-reports. 

    (4) Align ELA to curriculum through course mapping to defined learning outcomes. (5) Apply distance education simulation and technology design modalities. 

    (6) Engage subject-matter experts in learning design as appropriate. 

    (7) Provide consultation and support services in simulation and technology learning design, curriculum, strategies, assessment, and evaluation. (8) Maintain role as a superuser of the resources applied to ELA Learning Designs; a clinical end-user whose additional training on specific technology enable the support and training of colleagues who will be facilitating the learning experience. 

    (9) Collaborate with Faculty Development to support the training and onboarding of faculty who will facilitate the learning design. (10) Collaborate with Academic Technology Services to set up software needed for each ELA. 

    (11) Facilitate the application of the ELA learning design within a learning management system (LMS), such as Canvas. 

    (12) Demonstrate literacy in technology and/or willingness to fill potential gaps through professional development acquisition. 

    (13) Remain current on technical and educational developments in the field of virtual clinical education resources and best practices. 

    (14) Participate in function meetings on curriculum, learning design, and learner success. 

    (15) Serve on College committees as appropriate, including attendance of the Utah Simulation Coalition Board Meetings to represent the College. 

    (16) Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines; multitask and complete tasks with multiple interruptions, distractions, as well as competing priorities. 

    (17) Perform related duties as assigned.   

    MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master of Science in Nursing, Education. 
    • Experience with Instructional Design. 
    • Experience with Concept-Based Curriculum. Certified Nurse Educator (preferred). 
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and cooperatively as a member of a team. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with collaborators, vendors, and faculty. 
    • Experience building learning experiences and course management within a learning management system (LMS).
