    TITLE: INSTRUCTOR, WRITING CENTER

    Target Start Date: 1/9/2022 Salary: $58,000

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Instructor, Writing Center will provide assistance to learners to improve reading comprehension, understand the writing process, and assist with academic, professional, and creative writing assignments, and will serve as the primary point of contact for learner support within the Nightingale College Writing Center. The incumbent will assist in monitoring lab usage. The incumbent will be required to maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in computer and writing fields related to computer-assisted instruction.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assists in the creation and development of Writing Center content that supports the instructional program and promotes learning.
    • Provides instruction with MLA, APA, or Chicago formatting and researching or writing within the discipline.
    • Supports learners throughout the stages of the writing process from brainstorming to revising and editing.
    • Monitors lab usage and produces lab usage reports on a regular basis.
    • Communicates repair and update needs with appropriate parties.
    • Participates in the successful implementation of other functional projects as they arise.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • A bachelor's degree in English, composition, or writing from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education.
    • Demonstrates at least 18 credit hours devoted to English and writing.
    • Demonstrated experience in education, preferably in an online higher education setting.
