    Tracking Code 822-636 Job Description The Part-Time Pool is for applicants who are interested in temporary and/or part-time custodial positions. The Pool is always open for applications. However, this does not mean that we have an immediate opening. The Pool functions as a way for supervisors to view applicant materials in advance of a need, and determine if the applicant will be approved or not approved to be added to the pool of eligible applicants. Should a part-time position need arisein facilities, the supervisor will look first at the approved applicants to see if anyone matches our needs, in which case they may make contact to schedule an interview. Please note: Review of pool applications occurs when needs are identified in a given department. SUMMARY The purpose of this position is to perform custodial maintenance and heavy duty cleaning of college facilities as assigned to ensure a clean and safe environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list includes, but is not limited to the following: Scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors. Vacuums and shampoo all carpeted areas. Cleans walls and woodwork, mirrors, ceilings, light fixtures, dry-erase boards, and restrooms. Dusts and polishes furniture. Washes inside and outside windows. Cleans outside entryways and picks up parking lot litter. Clears clogged drains and toilets or reports same to the Physical Plant. Refills all dispensers as needed. Cleans offices, restrooms, locker rooms, shower areas, and custodial service rooms. Moves furniture and sets up meeting rooms, classrooms, or dining areas. Empties wastebaskets, collects recyclable items, and remove all refuse from buildings. Operates cleaning equipment as required. Removes snow from buildings, steps, and entrances when required. Carries a two-way radio for communication with other staff and security. Locks and unlocks campus buildings as required. Reports potential problems, hazards, or emergencies to the immediate supervisor and/or security staff. May require shift work and or weekends. Maintains a positive, helpful, constructive attitude and work relationship with supervisor, college staff, students, and the community. Marginal Duties Performs other duties as assigned. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles or blood borne pathogens; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock and works with vibration causing tools or equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Location: NIC Campus Salary : $10.20 per hour. Start Date: Varies depending on need. Work Schedule: Approximately 19 hours per week, varies depending on need. Night shift and/or weekends.
