    Geospatial Technician Intern Job Description: Description Sentera is a world leader in drone-based precision agriculture located in Minneapolis, MN. Sentera builds specialized cameras, drones, and software to capture and analyze images of farm fields and provide actionable information to growers and researchers. Sentera is seeking a summer intern with knowledge, experience, and interest in the fields of geospatial data processing and analysis, to apply these skills toward analyzing images of farm fields captured by drones. You will be a part of the Data Science team, working alongside agronomists, software engineers, and machine learning scientists to quantify what is happening in farmers fields. Mastery of GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS is crucial to this role. Experience with Python, especially GDAL libraries, is a significant advantage. Duties Perform a wide variety of tasks related to analyzing georeferenced imagery of farm fields. Process sets of images captured by drones to produce georeferenced mosaics (raster data). Perform analysis on spatial accuracy of mosaics, and develop methods for improving spatial accuracy. Generate custom polygon vector layers based on customer description of field experiment locations for zonal analysis of raster data. Perform zonal analysis of raster data. Interface with customer to develop data analysis plan and deliver results. Work with software engineering team to develop efficient workflows for vector and raster analysis. Write python scripts for efficient data processing. Fly drones to collect imagery to support new algorithm development. Annotate images in support of software algorithm development. Qualifications The candidate should be pursuing a Certificate or Associates Degree in Geographic Information Systems or similar. The candidate must attain FAA Part 107 Certification as a Remote Pilot prior to beginning employment. Certification is attained by studying for and passing a written exam at a small local airport. Certification is easy, requiring approximately 10 hours of studying and 2 hours of exam time. Sentera pays the exam fee. The candidate must be licensed to drive in the US.
