POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Operating Room Technician- Endoscopy

In this role, the successful candidate provides direct and indirect patient care and performs technical rehabilitative and therapeutic nursing procedures and activities under the direct supervision of the registered professional nurse.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Exposure & handling of hazardous waste.
• Performs proper specimen handling according to guidelines from the laboratory. Universal precautions are observed and appropriate PPE utilized.
• Performs all the requirements of the Universal Protocol and Time Out in accordance with Hospital policy.
• Creates and maintains a sterile field. Reports any break in technique with proper follow-up.
• Performs other duties as aligned with the mission and values of the organization
• Demonstrates personal accountability for own professional practice and professional growth.
• Promotes patient safety and quality including adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals.
• Communicates and collaborates effectively with members of the health care team escalating situations appropriately
• Establishes effective caring relationships with staff patients families and other members of the health care team.
• Establishes priorities for patient care delivery and uses critical thinking skills coordinates and completes patient care responsibilities independently or by appropriately delegating.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical psychosocial educational safety and age related criteria pertinent to the patients served in his/her assigned area.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: To qualify, a High School Diploma Required. Graduate of an accredited Endoscopy Technician/OR Surgical Technician Training CST program required

Experience: 1-3 years recent Endoscopy experience required 1-3 years recent OR experience preferred

Certification: For Endoscopy Technicians- Gastroenterology Technician Specialist (GTS) or Advanced Gastroenterology Technician Specialist (AGTS) required For Surgical Technicians/OR Technicians- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required

Willingness to devote the time required completing assigned tasks on time.

Essential Job functions: Ability to stand for long periods, lift minimum of 30 lbs
