    PATH'S MALARIA PORTFOLIO IS CENTERED AROUND FOUR PILLARS:

    • NATIONAL PROGRAM SUPPORT AND STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT: We partner with countries to design and implement context-specific intervention packages
    • DATA AND DIGITAL SOLUTIONS: We build capacity for timely data analysis, data visualization, and data for decision-making across all levels of the health system
    • PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT: We develop, evaluate, and scale existing and next-generation malaria control tools
    • OPERATIONAL RESEARCH: We conduct complex evaluations and analyses, translate evidence to inform policy and strategy, and advance the global research agenda

     

    DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT THE INTERN WILL COMPLETE:

    The intern will be responsible for helping craft the visual identity of the malaria portfolio, including collation of assets in a user-friendly and user-intuitive mechanism.

     

    DESCRIPTION OF THE LEARNING OBJECTIVES AND GOALS OF THE INTERNSHIP:

    The intern will have the opportunity to practice skills in cross-cultural communication, strategic marketing, knowledge management, and visual branding.

     

    PROPOSED ACTIVITIES FOR THE INTERNSHIP:

    • Help collate current inventory of visual assets (photos and media) to date. 
    • Work with the malaria communications team to organize and sort visual and media assets according to portfolio themes and characteristics. 
    • Work with communications team to define visual identity for the portfolio. With guidance from the communications team, create a rubric for deciding top assets. Apply that rubric to inventory, resulting in prioritized pool of assets that align with the visual identify. Ensure alignment with PATH’s visual identity guidelines throughout. 
    • Identify gaps in current inventory to inform future media and photography efforts. 
    • Conduct interviews with communicators across the malaria portfolio to assess bottlenecks in current visual asset management.
    • Upload priority photos to PATH’s Media Bank for organizational use. Upload photos to Box, or another system depending on preferences of the team.
    • Create job aids to assist staff in utilizing visual resources in a variety of mediums.
    • Assist communications team in compiling end-of-year photo essay.

     

    BENEFIT TO INTERN:

    This internship is an opportunity to work with a cross-disciplinary team to support an important visual identity mechanism from ideation to deployment. 

     

    HOW WILL PERFORMANCE BE EVALUATED?

    Each week, the intern and supervisor will set weekly goals and actions to achieve them. The intern will report weekly what they worked on the week before, identify areas of support or direction needed, and their plan for the upcoming week.

    • Excellent knowledge management skills.
    • Ability to think creatively to develop solutions to ensure access and utilization of visual assets.
    • Media collation experience.
    • Photography expertise, particularly in social justice, health, and people-focused areas.
    • 1-2 years of branding or marketing experience.
    • Public health/ infectious disease experience or education.
    • French language skills a plus

     

  • Qualifications

     

    B.A./B.S. preferred. Five to eight years' experience in marketing communications. Familiarity with marketing principles and the creative process including web and print design. Demonstrated ability to lead a project, manage internal and external team members, resolve issues under deadline pressure. and juggle multiple tasks. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team atmosphere that includes colleagues, administrators and senior staff. Keen attention to detail. Higher Education and/or in house agency experience preferred.
