    PATH in Ethiopia is currently implementing various high impact projects with the aim of saving and improving the lives of the most vulnerable and under-served women and children in the country. PATH Ethiopia office in collaboration with GAVi, the Vaccine Alliance is planning to provide a technical assistance to Harari and Sidama regions in the introduction of COVID-19 Vaccine at the regional l level.  For this PATH is seeking a for hiring a qualified regional Project coordinator who will work closely with the regional health bureau of Harari and Sidama regions

     

     

    The Regional Project Coordinator will provide technical support to RHB on the regional introduction of COVID 19 and provide technical assistance for the introduction of other new vaccines as per the national plan. He/she will report to the senior technical advisor, Ethiopia Country office. This position will be based in Sidama and Harari regions.

     

    We require two (2) Project Coordinators (one for Sidama region and one for Harari region).  Please clearly mark your regional preference in your application. Contract Period: 6 months with a possibility of extension based on availably of funding.

      

    Key Duties and Responsibilities.

     

    • Provide Technical Assistance to the regional Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) on planning, preparation, implementation, and monitoring of the regional introduction of COVID 19 vaccine.
    • Serve as a focal person for PATH’s vaccine-related work in Sidama and Harari region.
    • Cascade the international and national support provided by PATH to regional level in close consultation with the RHB EPI team.
    • Work closely and collaboratively with other region’s technical advisors in providing support for COVID 19 vaccine introduction.
    • Actively engage in internal and external team meetings and teleconferences to provide country update, discuss issues, and identify solutions.
    • Stay current with latest technical knowledge/experience regarding COVID 19 vaccine introduction and other new vaccines of the investment portfolio of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
    • Collaborate with Advocacy and communication team (in country and regional level) and support EPI and regions in identifying appropriate social mobilization activities and strategies for COVID 19 vaccine introduction.
    • As part of the project, team performs a project management role for ensuring the delivery of successful projects in accordance with project deliverables and success criteria.
    • Properly communicate/report results of technical assistance to in country leadership and immunization team, and other external stakeholders as required.
    • Contribute to development and writing of proposals for new projects as required.
    • Travel domestically and/or regionally as required.

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    • Advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, medicine, or related field.
    • 7-10 years of relevant work experience in public health with strong skill and knowledge in the field of immunization particularly in provision of technical assistance to the public sector.
    • Demonstrated experience in employing epidemiological and operational skills in planning and programming national roll-out of health program with particular emphasis to immunization and new vaccine implementation.
    • In-depth knowledge of immunization systems and country immunization programs. Specific knowledge of the structure and operations of the Ethiopia Expanded Program on Immunization desirable.
    • In-depth knowledge of vaccine-preventable disease epidemiology, qualitative and quantitative study design, and program planning and evaluation of vaccine delivery.
    • Knowledge of COVID 19 epidemiology, infection prevention in developing country contexts.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-region, team-based organizational structure.
    • Demonstrated skills in writing scientific reports for governments, stakeholders, and non-technical audiences.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Amahric and English with strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
    • Knowledge on the local language desired
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other information processing software.
    • Working knowledge of data analysis software such as SPSS, STATA, Nvivo, Atlas.ti, EPI-Info, or others.
    • Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, and to competent track timelines and deliverables with minimal guidance.

     

    Must have legal authorization to work in Ethiopia.

  • Qualifications

    Associate degree required. Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice preferred. Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee Reserve-Intermittent Police Academy training preferred.

     

    THE NATIONAL EMERGING INFECTIOUS DISEASES LABORATORIES (NEIDL)_ is part of a national network of secure facilities that study infectious diseases – whether they occur naturally or are introduced deliberately through bioterrorism. The NEIDL is dedicated to the development of diagnostics, vaccines and therapeutics to combat emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases. In addition to Bio Safety Level (BSL)-2 and BSL-3 laboratories, the NEIDL houses BSL-4 laboratories that will operate at the highest level of containment. The NEIDL will add to the growing life sciences industry in the region, throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and across the country._
