The Help Desk Specialist uses tools to remotely access end user computers to evaluate and resolve issues; communicates with end users throughout the resolution process; documents all support requests using ITSM software and reports any unresolved technical issues that need to be elevated beyond the standard helpdesk process.List of Essential Activities1. Provides tier one telephone and walk-in support for employees, faculty, and students 2. Initiates a support ticket for every support request 3. Troubleshoots all standard helpdesk support requests; elevates unresolved technical issues to other technicians using a support ticket 4. Installs, configures, and troubleshoots Windows and Mac computers and peripherals 5. Deploys new PCs and relocate existing PCs 6. Troubleshoot and resolve classroom technology problems 7. Maintains competency in contemporary computer and A/V technologies 8. Develops and prepares written software; technical documentation, and procedural manuals 9. Related projects and duties as assignedRequired Qualifications1. Associate's Degree or High School Diploma and completion of equivalent technical school training or certification program at the time of hire. 2. One years IT helpdesk/client service experience involving the use of a help desk ticketing system 3. One years experience with Windows, Mac, Operating Systems, and software 4. Must meet the physical requirement to lift and carry hardware weighing up to 40 pounds 5. Ability to multitask in demanding environment 6. Exceptional organizational and communication skillsPreferred Qualifications1. Three years experience with Windows, MAC 0SX, and software 2. Two years IT helpdesk/client service experience involving the use of helpdesk ticket system 3.
