    Hunt Energy Network is seeking an expert to join its Operations team to facilitate and lead the interconnection of generation assets. This person will plan, direct, prepare and negotiate Interconnection agreements and consult with various internal and external contacts to establish optimum Points of Interconnection. They will work with applicable stakeholders to resolve legal, technical, financial, and regulatory issues incurred during the agreement development process. They will need to anticipate and communicate business risks and recommend best practices.  

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead Generation Interconnection & Compliance efforts and acts as the technical expert in matters related to generator interconnection processes and requirements, utility interconnection agreements, and compliance
    • Identify optimal strategy for project interconnection to the grid based on system impacts and assessing grid capacity; develop best plan for interconnection
    • Interconnection projects includes working with utilities and ISO’s (Independent System Operator) to model, due diligence, interconnection analysis including evaluating available capacity for transmission/distribution lines and substations and estimate timing and costs
    • May be required to create and validate PSLF, PSS_E and PSCAD models for renewable generation: Solar PV, BESS, Wind
    • Perform NERC compliance technical analysis, as required
    • Perform tasks requiring the application of standard electrical engineering techniques and procedures. Work includes analysis of electrical transmission/distribution systems, including generation interconnection studies, load flow analysis, dynamic studies, reactive deficiency study, transient stability analysis, short circuit, and voltage analysis
    • Stay up to date on relevant state and federal regulatory matters, NERC, FERC compliance, and ISOs new requirements
    • Understanding the interconnection process and regulatory construct with different ISO and utilities
    • Work with manager and team to support HEN’s generation developer initiatives by managing and responding to communications with the Transmission/Distribution Service Provider (TDSP) and ISO for the respective interconnection positions
    • Populating and reviewing technical data in Interconnection Agreements documents for existing projects
    • Support in tracking projects and maintaining a project status tracker updated based on client’s needs
    • Renewable project preliminary design and modeling
    • Lead and execute on generation interconnection process
    • Attend and participate in conferences on engineering and technical issues. Report news and trends back to the company as necessary and advise on key findings.

    Required Experience

    • 5+ years minimum experience in generation interconnection and compliance related activities
    • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
    • Specialization in Power and Energy Systems is preferred
    • Expert knowledge of generation interconnection process tariffs, interconnection agreements and requirements in different markets; such as CAISO, MISO, SPP, ERCOT and PJM, including a sound working knowledge of the process from the initial interconnection request through commissioning and related procurement technical requirements to achieve energy delivery.
    • In-depth knowledge of power market fundamentals, emerging energy technologies and trends, and market simulation modeling
    • Demonstrated expertise in US energy/power market analysis and a detailed understanding of the analytical tools/software used in the industry
