    POSITION SUMMARY: 

    The School of Theatre and Bass School of Music seek applications for the staff position of Production Coordinator.  The Production Coordinator is responsible for marketing materials to promote productions, coordinating showcases, and providing additional production support. The Production Coordinator position is housed in the School of Theatre, but also supports Opera and Music Theater productions in the Bass School of Music.  The Production Coordinator reports to the Associate Dean of the School of Theatre. 

    This position is scheduled to work a maximum of 32 hours weekly.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    _Production Marketing and Promotion: _

    • Oversee design, creation, and distribution of programs for all School of Theatre productions. Oversee and organize production programs for the Opera/Music Theatre program. 
    • Assist in the design and creation of the program shell for the Schools of Music and Theatre. 
    • Oversee the design, writing, creation, and distribution of School of Theatre production posters, season brochures, and online marketing. Coordinate with Communications and Marketing on the production of marketing materials for the School of Theatre productions. 
    • Manage the School of Theatre online presence. 
    • Work with local partners to create promotional materials and advertising for co-productions.

     

     

    _Production Coordination: _

    • Coordinate all rights/royalties and ordering of scripts for the School of Theatre productions. 
    • Organize student workers and volunteers to assist with office management, marketing, ushering, and house management for productions. 
    • Manage relationships with on and off campus photographers, webmasters, videographers, and other outside vendors. Organize archival video recording and production photography.

     

     

    Showcase Coordination: 

    • Provide administrative support for the planning and execution of Showcases.  To include, but not limited to, coordinating outside vendors, theatres, contracts, and marketing materials for showcases including Dallas, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

    • Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery. 
    • Constantly visually identifies, observes, and assesses. 
    • Frequently communicates with university constituents. 
    • Frequently remains in a stationary position (standing and/or sitting). Occasionally moves to accomplish tasks and/or to get from one worksite to another. 
    • Occasionally moves common office materials.

    WORKING CONDITIONS: 

    • Work is primarily indoors but requires the incumbent to be in an outdoor environment when traveling between campus buildings or off campus. 
    • Attendance at evening and weekend events is sometimes required. 
    • Off-campus, state and regional travel is sometimes required. 
    • Incumbent will be exposed to frequent noise caused by shop machinery, musical equipment, telephones and office machines. 
    • Pay will be commensurate with experience, $13.00 - $14.39 hourly.

       

     

    Required Skills

    • Ability to create error-free communication pieces and proven proofreading skills. 
    • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office and common graphic design/publishing applications and software. 
    • Fluency in social media platforms. 
    • Knowledge of theatre and music production terminology and industry practices. 
    • An interest in the world of theatre and a good awareness of the industry and its workings. 
    • Ability to demonstrate a high degree of initiative and willingness to accept responsibility. 
    • Ability to work with a team in a highly collaborative environment. 
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. 
    • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. 
    • Ability to work evenings and weekends as well as travel to support production needs.

     

    Required Experience

    • Required Experience: At least one year of related work experience involving communications, marketing, theatre and/or musical performance production, or other relevant experience. 
    • Required Education: A bachelor’s degree is required, a bachelor’s degree in a performing arts related field is preferred.
    • A suitable combination of education and experience may be substituted for minimum qualifications.
