    Instruction amp; Classroom Support Technician 3 (PSNS) Salary $14.50 Hourly Location PSNS, WA Job Type Part-time Hourly Department Business and Technology Job Number 17-18.P58 Closing Continuous * Description * Benefits * Questions Description Olympic College is recruiting to fill a part-time hourly Instruction and Classroom Support Technician 3 position for the Industrial Trade Technician (INDTT) Apprentice program in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS). This position will provide instructional support, instruct students in laboratory exercises, and coordinate with faculty and staff from the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Apprentice Program and the Olympic College Bremerton Campus. Essential Functions * Inspect, test, and repair lab equipment used for lecture demonstrations and experiments* Prepare equipment, materials, and solutions for classwork projects in coordination with faculty* Confer with instructor in establishing and developing assignments* Coordinate functions related to the Industrial Trades Technician Applied Physics instructional program including classroom media, stockroom, equipment repair shop, chemicals and radioactive materials using standard safety procedures* Assist students in the lab to complete assigned experiments using safety protocols* May work with faculty to design, construct and test equipment needed for demonstrations and lab experiments* Modify textbooks, lab directions, equipment and lab processes to address changes to the physics curriculum* Consult with faculty and other electronics professionals and sources to assess textbook and laboratory text modifications* Study and evaluate new trends and developments on the latest equipment and laboratory procedures* Provide training for students and faculty on equipment upgrades and changes, assisting new faculty with learning lab experiments and procedures* Act as coordinator of shop or laboratory controlling all equipment, chemicals and use of space* Assists with estimating quantity and quality of supplies and materials needed; orders equipment and supplies for the course* May teach laboratory portion of selected classes* Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee in this position. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * Associate's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience* Two (2) years experience in a scientific laboratory or similar setting Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Physics or related field from an accredited college or university Conditions of Employment: * Successful completion of a criminal history background check* Must be able to gain security clearance to work in a controlled industrial area, including a federal criminal background check and proof of identity and documentation of U.S. citizenship with either a U.S. Passport or certified U.S. birth certificate* This is a part-time position that requires punctual and regular attendance. Flexible work hours may be required to accommodate both morning and afternoon work assignments.* This position is in a classroom and/or shop environment at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS). The employee may be required to move across PSNS, up to a half mile in an industrial setting to reach the job site.* Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position. The employee may be required to lift and carry supplies and equipment of up to 30 pounds.* Official college transcripts will be required of the successful candidate. Practical examination may be administered. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee a passing or competitive score on the examination.
