Under general supervision, the Media Technician I will set up, operate and provide support for Interactive Television (ITV) and multimedia enhanced instruction. Schedule will vary from quarter to quarter and may work anywhere from 7am to 10pm depending on classes. This position does not work during breaks. Olympic College is a public two-year community college that educates more than 13,000 students a year. Founded in 1946, the college has three campuses in Bremerton, Poulsbo, and Shelton and serves a population of 280,000 residents living in Kitsap and Mason Counties. Essential Functions Essential Functions * Set up and operate, and assist in the troubleshooting of ITV equipment;* Provide Teaching Assistant (TA) support for ITV Faculty proctor tests, distribute and collect materials etc;* Set up and operate or assist others in the operation of various audio-visual and video equipment such as PowerPoint, film and slide projectors, amplifiers, speaker systems, television cameras and monitors, receivers, audio and video tape recorders, video projectors and interactive media systems;* Produce instructional materials such as slides, transparencies, charts and posters; assist higher level technicians in the production or presentation of instructional materials such as computerized multi-media materials, films, and audio and video recordings;* Set up audio and video recording and/or playback equipment, lighting, and staging equipment;* Comply with copyright law and practice as it applies to the duplication and presentation of media materials;* May assist in the scheduling of media equipment; may assist in maintaining stock and inventory records on materials, equipment and parts;* Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications * High school graduation AND six months of media services experience required; OR* Equivalent education and/or experience Additional Information Successful applicants will be able to: * Demonstrate strong computer and media equipment operation and set-up skills;* Work independently with little direction;* Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural, geographic, and socioeconomic backgrounds;* Communicate effectively both orally and in writing;* Understand oral and written instructions;* Work effectively under pressure;* Maintain effective working relationships;* Establish and meet 'Physical Requirements' to accomplish required work;* Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Olympic College mission, diversity and learning-centered climate. Conditions of Employment * Successful completion of a criminal history background check.* Regular, punctual and predictable attendance* This position is in a typical office setting and requires the employee to travel across campus in all kinds of weather to deliver equipment and/or supplies. May require occasional travel to other campuses.* Ability to lift, move and transport equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
