    Film Producing Adjunct Faculty Salary Depends on Qualifications Location Bremerton Campus, WA Job Type Adjunct Faculty Department Social Sciences and Humanities Job Number 18-19-A07 Closing Continuous * Description * Benefits * Questions Description Olympic College's Filmmaking department features a media production studio, dedicated editing suites, a sound stage, all new film production equipment, a screening theatre, and Mac computers with industry software. The program grants Bachelor and Associate degrees in Filmmaking, and is taught by current and former industry professionals. The department currently enrolls over 250 students a quarter and is rapidly growing. Olympic College is seeking adjunct faculty who can help maintain cutting edge instruction, bring an entrepreneurial spirit necessary to collaboratively assist in growing and guiding a department dedicated to serving the authentic needs of the digital filmmaker in the 21st century, and help take the department to the next level of national prominence. Responsible to teach multiple level courses in film producing, and serve as a mentor for our film producing students. Emphasis is on the practical, financial, and artistic elements of film producing, with a principle concentration on producing the narrative film. Essential Functions * Teach film producing college-level course(s) in accordance with college catalog, schedule of classes, course outlines, course syllabi, and any departmental guidelines;* Provide quality teaching including related preparation and timely grading;* Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office by the tenth day of the quarter;* Maintain accurate records of students and complete forms as required;* Mentor and advise student filmmakers in the submission of their projects to festivals and other competitions* Punctual communication with students, faculty, and staff;* Online teaching experience or experience in web-enhanced instruction.* Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required; Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * A Master's (MA) degree from an accredited college or university in film producing or closely related field* Two (2) years full-time equivalent (FTE) college level teaching experience in film producing or related courses* Experience as a producer for feature films and/or episodic content or web series* Experience teaching lesson components in film financing, scheduling, budgeting, development, pre-production, and distribution Preferred Qualifications: * A Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree from an accredited college or university in film producing or closely related field* Affiliation with The Producers guild of America (PGA), Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), or Academy of Television Arts amp; Sciences (ATAS)* Experience micro-budgeting and crowd funding digital film projects* Experience developing curriculum and designing film producing scores Successful applicants will be able to: * Effectively teach and impart excitement and enthusiasm in teaching courses;* Conduct instruction for clustered classes of different levels of learning;* Relate recent experience with distribution of feature films and/or long-form content in both domestic and foreign markets to classroom instruction;* Incorporate professional experience in film financing, packaging, exhibition, international co-productions, entertainment law and marketing (including advertising, public relations and promotions) into existing curriculum;* Provide best-practices examples for students through recent experience in either a major, mini-major or independent film production company;* Incorporate experiences from recent work as a professional producer in feature films and/or episodic television or web series into course instruction;* Weave experience in industry-standard film budgeting and film scheduling software into instructional pedagogy;* Demonstrate an ability to teach production courses at college level.* Demonstrate a commitment to teach students with little or no background in film, as well as the experienced student desiring to further their career;* Utilize a variety of methods and modes of instruction to ensure student success;* Support diversity in higher education through application of multiple teaching pedagogies and the use of diverse resources/voices, as well as by contributing through actions;* Function as a team player and artistic collaborator;* Foster a climate of multi-cultural understanding and appreciation;* Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural, geographic, and socioeconomic backgrounds;* Communicate effectively both orally and in writing in the classroom and with other professionals;* Appropriately incorporate the use of computer information technology in the delivery of services;* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all OC employees and students;* Demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment, to the Olympic College mission, diversity, and a learning-centered climate;* Effectively teach and manage classes with a broad spectrum of abilities and experience (example: students in high school through retired professionals).* Uphold Olympic College's values and ethics necessary to maintain a positive climate; Conditions of Employment: * The employee may be required to lift and carry supplies and equipment of up to 30 pounds unassisted.* Successful completion of a criminal history background check.* Regular and predictable attendance. Additional Information Terms of Employment: This is an adjunct faculty position scheduled to teach on a part-time basis during fall quarter 2018. This position may be required to teach evening classes and requires flexible availability. Salary: Per Olympic College Board of Trustees approved salary schedule based on education and qualified experience.
