Instruction and Classroom Support Technician 2 - Business amp; Technology Salary $13.25 Hourly Location Bremerton Campus, WA Job Type Part-time Hourly Department Business and Technology Job Number 18-19-P02 Closing Continuous * Description * Benefits * Questions Description Responsible to provide direct support for the TEC 213 Networking Computer Lab and the Computer Information Systems (CIS) program, including the drop-in tutoring lab, students and faculty in the program. The Instruction and Classroom Support Technician 2 will be required to maintain current Microsoft Certified Solutions Associates (MCSA) certification for both desktop and server operating system. Essential Functions * Develop plans for facility and equipment changes;* Design and/or arranges for design development to meet teaching needs;* Coordinate functions related to instructional programs such as classroom media, stockrooms, shops, and/or safety procedures;* Plan new approaches to educational problems that may involve the use of instructional material in its traditional form or in specifically designed innovative forms;* Consult with experts to obtain and plan for the implementation of new educational technology both in the physical classroom and online, offering a thorough understanding of technical content;* Write, edit, and organize technical documentation for classroom support;* Study and evaluate new trends and developments in technology; makes recommendations for changes and/or improvements to faculty and students* Validate labs, curriculum and new textbooks according to instructors' needs;* Schedule open lab hours and creates lab tech's work schedules.* Support instructors in instructional activities, such as grading lab work and assignments;* Support Cisco and Cisco Small Business equipment in the TEC 213 lab, such as routers and switches;* Keep lab equipment up to date including Windows Server, Linux, and other network devices.* Develop and maintain a comprehensive security plan for the Tec 213 lab to include backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity that incorporates policies, procedures, best practices, and guidelines.* Oversee and conduct preventative maintenance, and maintain a clean and tidy lab work environment;* Maintain a comprehensive and accurate inventory of all lab assets (may involve database);* Maintain an inventory of consumable supplies, and recommend restocking as needed;* Maintain key and tool inventory daily, and immediately reports discrepancies;* Participate in and help support the Student in Need Group (S.I.N.G) computer refurbishment program, to include evaluating donations, processing donations, and delivering finished computers.* Develop a cut sheet for the creation of quot;golden imagequot; for the purpose of deployment* Deploy operating systems with applications pre-installed via imaging technology using best practices and applications, e.g. Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager, Windows Deployment Services, or Symantec Ghost;* Develop and maintain group policy objects, network permissions, accounts, Web-sites, and databases;* Promptly respond to constituent requests for service, including voice mail, email and in-person;* Performs related work as required and/or assigned; Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * Associate's degree in Computer Information Systems (CIS) or closely related field from an accredited college or university OR one and one-half (1 1/2) years experience working as a computer technician or as a technician in a related position.* Advanced level computer competency* Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associates (MCSA) or attainment of such before the end of the first six months of employment in this position. Additional Information Terms of Employment: This is a part-time position expected to work 18 hours per week. May be required to work on weekends and/or more than 18 hours per week during academic school breaks.
