    IRC76357 Job Title RN, Adult 6 South Operating Room, Operating Room Nurse Internship Program (ORNIP), New Nurse Graduate to Operating Room, Full Time, and Mid Shift Department Perioperative Services Location OHS 6C6 Work Unit Description Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary Range Registered Nurse, Adult 6 South Operating Room, Operating Room Nurse Internship Program (ORNIP), New Nurse Graduate to Operating Room, Full Time, and Mid Shift * Job Type: This role is subject to a collective bargaining agreement with the Oregon Nurses Association (ONA). * FTE: 1.0, Full Time * Shift: Mid Shift * Shift Length: 8 hour * Start and Stop Times: 1045-1915 * Weekend Obligation: Each nurse covers up to two weekend work shifts a month. * Holiday Obligation: Each nurse covers 2 holiday work or call shifts a year, this could either be day or night. * Call Obligation: Begins after the completion of the nurse internship program. * Weekend Call: Each nurse covers up to two, 8-hour weekend call shifts a month. If staff is scheduled to work at least two weekend days in a pay period, they are exempt from weekend call. * Weekday Night Call: Each nurse covers up to two weekday call shifts a month. Weekday call shifts are either 4 or 8 hours. * Salary: Hourly rate based on ONA contract * Location: Marquam Hill Campus * Leave: The Operating Room Nurse Internship is a highly structured program built on learning activities that require the deep investment of skilled facilitators in the design and delivery. Small group dialogue to share learnings and provide peer feedback is a critical learning strategy that extends throughout the entire length of this program. Therefore, successful completion of the nurse internship program necessitates attendance during all learning activities. * For those new to OHSU, vacations, paid or unpaid leave requests up to 6 months from the start date are not permitted. All other vacation, paid or unpaid leave requests are subject to compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between ONA and OHSU. * For internal transfers, all other vacation, paid or unpaid leave requests are subject to compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between ONA and OHSU. If you have pre-scheduled vacations or leave plans they must be disclosed prior to consideration. Its possible we will suggest waiting until the next cohort to re-apply. Functions/Duties of Position South Operating Room (Main OR) is a large 25-bed OR primarily an adult inpatient operating room with a small volume of outpatient procedures including: Cardiac/ Thoracic, General Surgery/Minimally Invasive/ Colorectal/Bariatric, Gynecology, Oral Maxillofacial, Neuro/neuro spine, Orthopedic/orthopedic spine, Otolaryngology, Plastics, Transplant, Urology, Vascular, Robotic (Urology/GYN/Oral), and Trauma. Surgical procedures on infants and children less than 18 years of age are also performed if the procedure requires specialized equipment found only at this location. CHH Operating Room: is a 13- bed OR for a day patient or overnight day patient stay, adult population with a variety of surgical specialties. OHSU cares for acutely and critically ill patients in our Operating Room. We provide the latest evidence-based care and have a reputation for effective teamwork. Operating Room nurses understand the importance of their independent scope of practice and engage in dependent scope of practice decision making with the team. Operating Room nurses also provide patient and family-centered care for the full spectrum of illnesses. OHSU cares for acutely and critically ill patients in our Operating Room. We provide the latest evidence-based care and have a reputation for effective teamwork. Operating Room nurses understand the importance of their independent scope of practice and engage in dependent scope of practice decision making with the team. The OHSU Operating Room provides around-the-clock multidisciplinary services to adult patients across their life span. The department cares for Ambulatory, Adult Acute Care and Adult ICU patients arriving from home, ED or from the In-Patient setting. OHSU is a Magnet designated hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center. Patient population and diagnoses vary from minor and critical to include both elective and emergent surgeries. Job Requirements New Nurse Graduates: * A precepted experience in an adult Operating Room practicum as a nursing student or completed within 1-year of graduation from nursing school * Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing * Degree from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) * Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License by the start date * Unencumbered criminal background check * Both BLS/ACLS must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA by the start date (upload documentation with online application) * Both BLS/ACLS must not expire during the nurse internship program or introductory period * If you are an existing OHSU workforce member, then review Licensure, Certification and Registration Requirements for OHSU Healthcare Workforce Members policy, specifically #3, to receive compensation for BLS and ACLS certification * Must have excellent communication and reflection skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a team, and the flexibility to delegate, prioritize, and adapt in stressful situations * Minimum score of 11/18 on OHSU Nurse Interview Evaluation Tool Transition to Practice (TTP) Program: The TTP is an integrated concept-based program designed to support an individualized orientation experience. The program's foundation rests on ownership of professional role responsibilities that are applied in practicing and demonstrating specialty-population specific care through innovative learning activity strategies. Progressive development is guided, validated, and verified through program benchmarks, feedback, and progression methods and tools. The initial core class hours are possible MondayFriday, 8 hour shifts. The preceptorship shifts are assigned based on preceptor team schedules and are possible Monday-Friday, 8, 10 or 12 hours shifts. The preceptorship shifts are also integrated into the initial core class hours for up to 40 hours per week. The preceptorship shifts transition to the hiring shift based on unit readiness at the completion of the initial core classes.
