The College of Science at Oregon State University is looking for a talented and creative marketing, journalism/digital media student who is highly motivated, enthusiastic and skilled in the art of storytelling and crafting thought-provoking communications for print and online. In this position, you will produce content for print, digital and social media channels and gain hands on experience. You will write about a wide range of topics such as: science student activities, faculty and student profiles, academic programs, College news, groundbreaking research in biology/zoology/biochemistry/microbiology/math/physics/chemistry, events, scholarships, and anything that will engage readers while raising the visibility and impact of science. The Editorial and Content intern will work in our cool marketing space in Kidder Hall and learn from our award-winning creative team of designers and writers in the deans office. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and takes initiative to craft story ideas will do well in this position. -Position Duties -Write and research interesting stories for our website and newsletters as needed. Identify photos and graphics to complement stories. Write copy and help with flyers for lectures and other events. Learn how to post content using our content management systems Drupal and WordPress. Use and perfect your digital marketing and social media marketing skills to help increase web traffic and awareness among our key audiences. Promote content via social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter), creating and/or finding articles, stories, resources, or other content relevant to our key audiences and posting it in a way that invites conversation and interaction. Proofread stories for grammatical errors and Associated Press Style. Identify ways to improve our social channels and repurpose content. Adhere to the OSUs brand, tone, voice, and style as well as best practices. Consult with our team to assess copy needs, audiences, and objectives. Manage your own projects. Learn teambuilding and collaboration skills. Participate in weekly creative team meetings as your schedule permits. -Minimum Qualifications -Employment Eligibility Requirements (http://fa.oregonstate.edu/stu-manual/500-employment-eligibility-requirements) -Additional Required Qualifications -Excellent writing and editing skills. Strong communication skills. Good problem-solving skills. A strong understanding of journalism and news writing. Strong understanding of the Internet and social media marketing best practices. Experience using multiple social media platforms. Detail oriented, consistently meet deadlines and produce high quality work.
