    The Manager, Academic Affairs (MAA) reports directly to the Director, Academic Affairs. The Manager, Academic Affairs has a strong understanding of the university's academic policies to serve as foundation for all position responsibilities. The MAA will oversee academic and curricular details for BUSA summer programs and is responsible for creating and implementing a process for timely confirmation and communication of key summer programming details to relevant stakeholders. The MAA plays a critical role in support of the work of academic affairs and serves as a key representative of this work with BUSA staff, students, advisors and administrative offices on campus as well as with BUSAs institutional partners.

     

    1. Oversight of BUSA Summer Program Administration for 35 summer programs. Confirm curriculum at each site with on site-program director and confirm faculty participation for returning Charles River Campus (CRC) faculty for ten stand-alone summer programs. Update and distribute position description announcements for CRC faculty and graduate student teaching positions in Madrid and Paris. Confirm course and faculty details with on-site directors and with Global Programs Finance and Administration team for compensation, per diem, visa and travel logistics for summer appointment letters. Liaise with program management and enrollment services staff to ensure accurate course information for website and course selection forms. Communicate with summer faculty (standalone programs) on process for and distribution of course evaluation forms and share and provide guidelines for assessment of student learning outcomes. Arrange and participate in summer faculty orientation meetings and post-program debriefings.

    2. Oversee administration of learning outcomes assessment for BUSA programs. Manage communication with program directors regarding report submissions, content revisions and deadlines. Provide editorial guidance to program directors on annual assessment reports. Serve as primary Boston contact for communication with BUSA program directors on learning outcomes assessment: annual reporting, and online reporting platform. Conduct annual learning outcomes assessment for Direct Enrollment/Exchange Programs and prepare statistical report.

    3. Manage BUSA course proposals for the BU HUB. Track proposals and manage ongoing communication with Global Support and Study Abroad staff to ensure prompt publication of curricular updates to BUSA digital and print materials. Advise program directors/instructors on best practices for completing and submitting BU HUB course proposals. Liaise with BU Hub office on Study Abroad proposals.

    4. In consultation with the Director, Academic Affairs, advise program staff in Boston and abroad on policies governing course and program withdrawals, course overloads, etc. Communicate university and BUSA academic policies in response to student inquiries and assist in resolving student issues where appropriate.

    5. Carry out projects and initiatives that arise within academic affairs including preparation of curriculum and enrollment statistics, historical grading information, historical data on student performance as requested by faculty and academic departments or BUSA executive staff.

    6. Serve as Study Abroad contact for the University Bulletin. Conduct annual review of BUSA program pages in the University Bulletin. Ensure accuracy of all programmatic and curricular information pertaining to Study Abroad. Complete annual audit of BUSAs course inventory for accuracy.

    7. Develop and Implement a process to document and track revisions to curricular information and to ensure these are accurately reflected in digital and print materials. In consultation with the Director, Academic Affairs, serve as primary contact for the addition, correction and modification to all academic and curricular content for digital and print materials including syllabi and program learning outcomes.
