  • Responsibilities

    The Environmental Program Manager is responsible for the management of environmental programs and assisting the Associate Director in all environmental management programs across the enterprise. The duties include: providing for the safe and compliant management of radioactive, universal, and hazardous waste conducting audits of environmental programs across BU and BMC departments to assess compliance with institutional, local, state and federal regulations. Inspections include oil tanks, chemical storage areas, water treatment systems, generators, and many other environmentally sensitive operations.

    Required Skills

    B.A./B.S. in a related field, master's preferred, and at least five years of related experience preferably in an academic research or health care setting, Experience in hazardous waste management, environmental management, mechanical skills, or other relevant work experience may substitute for some or all of the required education. Valid Driver's License, basic computer skills (business systems, Microsoft office, word, excel, PowerPoint), OSHA Hazwoper 40 hour Certificate. Ability to respond to emergencies on campus during off hours. Should have or be able to obtain the 24 or 40-hour OSHA hazardous waste operations and emergency response training. This position requires successful completion of a pre-placement physical.
