  • Responsibilities

    The EHS Program Manager at the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL) is responsible for coordinating the application of BU Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs in the NEIDL and managing programs related to Biocontainment operations. The EHS Program Manager - NEIDL reports to the Associate Director / BSL-4 Biosafety Officer and is responsible for supporting NEIDL operations as liaison to the BU EHS disciplines not housed in the NEIDL including but not limited to chemical, environmental, fire and life, industrial hygiene, occupational/worker and radiation safety programs. The EHS Program Manager is responsible for the safety and compliance of BSL-2 laboratories; coordination with the Emergency Planning Program Manager on aspects of emergency planning; supporting biocontainment operations as well as assisting with the duties of both Associate Directors and the Scientific Safety Officer in the utilization of services and needs from BU-wide EHS.

    Required Skills

    B.A./B.S. in a related field and five years of relevant experience, ability to respond to emergencies on campus during off hours, including weekends and holidays as part of the on-call emergency response Should have or be able to obtain the 40-hour OSHA hazardous waste.
