PASCO SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 1 EMPLOYEE SERVICES 1215 WEST LEWIS ST PASCO, WASHINGTON 99301 PHONE (509) 543-6700 FAX (509) 543-6728 POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE 2018-2019 SCHOOL YEAR OPEN TO ALL CERTIFICATED AND OUT OF DISTRICT PERSONNEL Open: June 18, 2018 Close: June 22, 2018 or until filled REVISED TITLE: 7/17/18 POSITION: Dual Languange Coordinator Certificated - 1.0 FTE - Booth Building SCHEDULE: 2018 - 2019 School Year SALARY: Based on the 2018 - 2019 Teacher Salary Schedule QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position) *Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate *Minimum three (3) years of successful experience in bilingual education setting *Minimum of three (3) years Balanced Literacy instruction experience *Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish/English *Evidence of successful Balanced Literacy development instruction and implementation *English as a Second Language or Bilingual education endorsement *Ability to provide staff development and training as it pertains to the position *Willingness to collaborate and work as defined by the school improvement plan *Proven record of working cooperatively with staff *Knowledge of Washington State Standards and English Language Proficiency Satndards *Previous experience with Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD) *Experience with implementation and interpretation of student assessments *Knowledge of and ability to implement federal and state rules and regulations *Proven record of strong organizational skills *Proven record of strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise others *Knowledge of Late-Exit Bilingual and Two-Wau Dual Language Programs *Effective communication skills QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not essential to the position but would be useful) *Master of Arts Degree in Education preferred *Knowledge of Literacy Squared preferred REPORTS TO: Elementary School Supervising Administrator GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The TWDL/ELL Coordinator supports the articulation of programming for students enrolled in the bilingual program. The coordinator is responsible for the monitoring student interventions and implementation and dissemination of student learning plans. The coordinator works/meets regularly with teachers and assists teachers as needed to integrate language objectives in lessons. The coordinator/instructional coach is responsible for reporting all program information as required by State and Federal Programs. *The coordinator is responsible for student placement and for the timely notification to parents of their childs placement *He/she is responsible for Special Programs reporting to parents *He/she assists parents as needed *He/she assists building administrators, counselors and teachers with student information *He/she assists with the parent engagement program in their school *Research and remain abreast of best practices for language learners and of state and national trends in Bilingual education, to include knowledge of programs and resources at the state and national level *Facilitates groups that work on Additive Bilingual issues within the school, local community and state SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *Exerts a positive influence on the total school environment and seeks to provide assistance *Works closely with other building staff in matters pertaining to student data *Provides support and leadership to staff and administration regarding pupil record keeping *Insures appropriate identification of targeted students by administering appropriate assessments *Organizes and administers appropriate and required testing of students *Meets with other staff to transition students from elementary to middle school and middle to high school *Maintains all program documentation accurately and in a timely manner *Meets with district level administrators as needed for program requirements *Organizes and manages student learning/intervention plans *Assists with the registration of students and orients them to school procedures *Reviews schedules and grades regularly *Participates in case study conferences as needed, including the securing, interpreting and integrating of specific test and non-test data *Facilitates support services *Encourages and supports Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD) *Takes a leadership role in parent involvement *Participates in schoolwide/school improvement activities as required by supervisor *Works with ELL and Exited ELL students *Identifies and follows-up on targeted students throughout their educational program *Takes an active role in interpreting the schools objectives to targeted students, parents and the community *Insures compliance with federal, state and district rules, regulations and policies *Generates and disseminates, with classroom teachers, student learning plans *Performs other related duties as assigned EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of all employees.
