    Technology and Policy Postdoctoral Scholar in the School Engineering Design, Technology, and Professional Programs -Campus/Location: -University Park CampusDate Announced: -01/04/2019Date Closing: -open until filledJob Number: -84903Work Unit: -College of EngineeringDepartment: -School Engineering Design, Technology, and Professional Programs -Description The Postdoctoral Scholar will work closely with faculty from several disciplines in a Food, Energy, and Water Nexus program for East Africa directed at catalyzing long-term social impact, sustainability, and economic growth through technology and policy. This position is supported by funding from Penn State Global Programs and the five Institutes under the Vice President for Research: Materials Research Institute, Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences, Institute for CyberScience, Institutes of Energy and the Environment, and the Social Science Research Institute. This is one-year post-doctoral researcher position, renewable based on performance. Primary job functions and responsibilities include: Project Logistics, Coordination & Facilitation (interacting with and facilitating meetings with internal and external project teams; coordinating the planning and execution of project events through focus groups, interviews, baseline/endline assessments, meetings, and trainings; providing written insights from meetings and trainings where appropriate; content creation for report and proposal writing; and synthesizing results/reports from data or project activities), and Project Design (providing feedback and input into project proposals; contributing to research study strategic planning, including assisting in the establishment of future study and team management procedures; and contributing to grant writing). The successful candidate will hold a doctoral degree in relevant field at the time of appointment, have strong information-technology (IT) literacy and experience in interpreting and presenting data, have demonstrated ability to work in a team to achieve results in low resource settings, have experience in applying research methodology to secure sustainable results in social impact projects, have experience in project design, monitoring and evaluation, project management, and project execution, have at least 2 years of relevant work experience in an East African country, and have experience in working with development organizations.
