This person will assist with our event marketing initiatives, helping us to build awareness and drive engagement with the Penn State World Campus brand through virtual and in-person events. As a member of our team, this position will assist in the development of the strategy for and the planning and implementation of: industry trade show participation; promotional webinars; in-person networking events; graduation celebration receptions and other awareness-driving events and sponsorships. This is a paid internship opportunity with an hourly rate of $11/hour, and it can also be used for academic credit with the appropriate approvals from your academic department. Our team hopes to immerse the right candidate into as much of our daily operations and event strategy as possible to help to prepare him/her for a career in event planning and marketing. This position would require 15-20 hours per week and would run for the duration of the summer 2018 semester. Responsibilities: Assist with the development of virtual and in-person event strategy, planning, and execution; research event venue locations, catering options, event giveaways, and other necessary event support vendors; review and update event communications to match event goals and current brand identity; Work with our contract and risk management partners to evaluate opportunities and receive appropriate approvals; Work with internal marketing partners and outside vendors to determine the appropriate event assets, giveaways, and collateral necessary; pull and analyze event analytics from each platform and other reporting tools to provide data-driven recommendations for future event optimizations; assist with the creation of event wrap-up reports for internal partners and/or marketing leadership; attend regular meetings with the larger brand marketing team and internal marketing partners to gain further understanding on how events fit within our larger marketing initiatives and strategy and Assist with new event tools/technology research and evaluation. Requirements are passion for event planning and management, Organized and detail-oriented; previous experience or coursework in event marketing, preferred; experience with the process of developing marketing plans, preferred; familiarity with event and website analytics, preferred; strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work after regular business hours. Desired Majors: Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations, Bachelor of Science in Marketing, Bachelor of Science in Business, with an emphasis in Marketing and/or Management or bachelor of Arts in Media Studies.
