Work schedule is five to ten hours per week; mostly daytime hours with occasional evening hours for special events. Requirements: Background check (which will be conducted for the selected candidate at no charge). Strong writing skills, completion of COMM 260 News Writing and Reporting required. Familiarity with AP Stylebook, inverted pyramid. Critical thinker, ability and willingness to ask questions. Detail oriented, able to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects at once. Able to work independently and accept critical feedback in order to improve. Solid knowledge of Word, familiarity with Photoshop desired. Familiarity with Canva, Mail Chimp and social media desired. Job duties include: Write press releases for Penn State News and Health and Human Development website, assist with creation of other publications and PR materials as necessary, such as brochures or social media posts, assist with editing and proofreading materials, assist with production of other marketing/PR materials as skill set allows, work with faculty, staff and students to help tell the story of the University Police and Public Safetys successes.
