This assignment involves the development of modular online training material for an educational program. The training will emphasize specific topics in Electro-Optics. The responsibility of the intern will be to create online modules from educational material that is provided. The program will generate thirty to forty modules, and more, if sustained. The successful candidate will be a self-starter in the creation of accessible online educational material. Requirements include: experience in programmed learning that uses learning, evaluation, and remediation; general understanding of scientific and engineering concepts; ability to create modules containing videos, animations, photographs, and slides; and the ability to compose a consistent presence or theme for the collection of modules. The following are preferred: creativity in expression of scientific topics which may be perceived as boring; awareness of effective trends in the delivery of online and multimedia education; familiarity with scientific mechanical, electrical, and optical topics; demonstrated passion for creating effective online content; familiarity with virtual and augmented reality; and coursework in optics or photonics. This position is located at the EOC in Freeport, PA. Students must be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program in Optics, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related discipline and will work up to 40 hours per week over the summer. You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
