Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: Recruiting for residence hall rooms and manage residence hall schedules for show rooms for prospective students visiting campus. Work cooperatively with Tour Coordinators from Lion Scouts and S.M.A.R.T. regarding tour guide assessments. Provide assistance with any visitation events and daily visits. Assist with manual scheduling of guides when needed. Provide information regarding University offerings to prospective students and their families. Serve as a tour guide when necessary. Take the initiative to solve problems or conflicts and answer questions that improve visitor experiences. Attend meetings with UAO staff, student volunteers, etc. Coordinate students into tour groups on-site. Help with hiring, managing, organizing and facilitating tour evaluations. Assist with other projects and duties as assigned. Candidates should have strong attention to detail, and strong organizational and planning skills. Individuals should also be comfortable with conducting peer-to-peer assessments and offering constructive feedback. An ability to supervise and motivate a diverse group of student volunteers and the ability to relate well to prospective students and their families is also required. Availability during Monday through Friday from 8am to 3pm is highly preferred. We are seeking either one candidate to work full-time or have two candidates to split the workload with 20 hours each. This position will be from August 27ththrough December 7th. Please keep in mind, Penn State students holding multiple paying positions at Penn State cannot work more than 20 hours total per week. Candidates interested in receiving credit for their internship experience may do so with the approval of the UAO and their academic department. Regardless if credit will be received, this internship will be paid at a rate of $10 per hour. There may be an opportunity for this position to extend into the spring semester. Preference will be given to candidates with tour guide experience.
