About the Position:
The Director of Internship and Experiential Learning is responsible for developing and overseeing experiential learning opportunities such as internships, apprenticeships, and service learning. This position will interact with local businesses, the public sector, and community agencies and with students in Associate of Science, Associate of Arts, and bachelor programs to provide these students with career exploration activities that will allow them to gain practical experience and develop industry contacts to transition from school to work upon graduation.
Essential Functions/Duties
- Schedules and facilitates student engagements to explain internship and apprenticeship programs. Manages training materials for internship and apprenticeship opportunities.
- Works collaboratively with institutional units regarding internship and apprenticeship processes and best practices.
- Maintains records of all internship-related and apprenticeship paperwork between FDOE (as applicable), employers, faculty, and student participants.
- Engages external partners to identify and fill internship and apprenticeship opportunities; leverages the College’s subscription to Handshake platform to facilitate internship and employment opportunities for students.
- Manages all functions and aspects of the college internship and apprenticeship programs, including office and budget management
- Develops and implements marketing strategies to recruit and promote awareness of internship programs, apprenticeship programs and service learning among internal and external partners.
- Assists Career Services in developing and implementing multimedia programs for students on such topics as career assessment, goal setting, resume writing, interviewing skills, work expectations, and job shadowing.
- Updates and teaches internship course for AA students who wish to earn college credit for the internship experience.
- Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions/Additional Information:
- This position is a full-time on-campus position located at our Winter Haven campus. (Remote/hybrid options are not available.)
- Work outside regular business hours will be required including select weekends.
- Position may be required to attend functions and work during College closures (such as winter/spring break and inclement weather closures).
- Reliable transportation is required for extensive travel throughout Polk County.
- Must have the ability to work proficiently in busy, multi-office work area.
- Must be flexible and able to adapt well to changes.
Salary and Benefits Information:
- This position is a level P16. Please see below for specific salary range.

Required Education
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a Bachelor's degree is required. Master's Degree is preferred.
Required Experience
- Three years’ work experience required either in a student or academic services area on a college or university campus or in sales/marketing/human resources.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with either secondary or postsecondary workforce programs.
- Experience with career-services programs and/or human resources.
- Experience with career/professional development training in a business environment.
- Experience with social media.
