    ABOUT THE POSITION: 

    The Program Director oversees the development, implementation and promotion of a Postsecondary Vocational Program in Physical Therapy. Work requires the analysis of complex problems, planning of various interrelated activities, and the coordination of effort of multiple projects or functions, in addition to formulating and maintaining programmatic budgets.

     

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:  

    • Develop the curriculum framework and all instructional materials for the program. 
    • Disseminates program information to appropriate college recipients (administrators, advisors, faculty, and program students) and appropriate recipients outside the college (accreditation or certifications agencies, state agencies, etc.). 
    • Assemble and compile all materials required for accreditation or certification of the program. 
    • Evaluate the preparation of students for entry into the program and administer all aspects of the selection process if a limited access program.
    • Supervise adjunct instructors employed by the program.
    • Coordinate practicums, clinicals, internships, joint ventures and/or work-related educational experiences for program students.
    • Monitor program adherence to state regulations/national accreditation criteria.

     

     

    THIS POSITION IS A LEVEL P16.  TO DETERMINE STARTING SALARY, POLK STATE COLLEGE TAKES INTO CONSIDERATION THE PAY LEVEL MINIMUM, THE CANDIDATE'S QUALIFICATIONS AND INTERNAL EQUITY FACTORS. 

     

    Required Skills

     

    • Knowledge of principles and practices of professional training and development program design.
    • Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional method theory, and practical applications.
    • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with a variety of contacts of considerable importance within, and outside of, the college.  Contacts outside the college where lack of tact or judgment may result in negative college relations to a limited degree.
    • Ability to work independently with the responsibility for planning details and methods to obtain definite objectives and to make decisions within broad limitations of policy and professional standards.
    • Ability to work cooperatively with college personnel.
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

     

     

    REQUIRED EDUCATION:

    Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a master's degree is required. 

    • (Must include the equivalent of 9 credits of coursework in educational foundations.  NOTE: Completion of APTA's Education Leadership Institute constitutes 9 academic credits.)

    Must hold a current license/certification to practice as a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant in any U.S. jurisdiction.

    LICENSED PHYSICAL THERAPIST IS PREFERRED.

     

    Required Experience

    • At least five (5) years (or equivalent), full time, post licensure experience that includes at least 3 years (or equivalent) of full time clinical experience.
    • Didactic and/or clinical teaching experience.
    • Experience in administration/management
    • Experience in educational theory and methodology, instructional design, student evaluation and outcome assessment, including the equivalent of 9 credits of coursework in educational foundations.
