Dr. Jingyan Hans laboratory investigates the redox signaling mechanisms underlying vascular endothelial dysfunction in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and aortic aneurysm. The lab utilizes advanced redox omics, vascular imaging, and preclinical models to dissect redox-sensitive molecular pathways that govern endothelial cell biology and vascular remodeling.

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Research Scientist to join our interdisciplinary research team. This position is ideal for an accomplished cardiovascular biologist with demonstrated expertise in in vivo and ex vivo models of vascular and cardiac diseases, and mechanistic studies of redox-sensitive signaling.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and execute in vivo studies of vascular pathophysiology using murine and rabbit models of atherosclerosis, aneurysm, and heart failure.
    • Apply ultrasound (Vevo3100) and Langendorff perfusion system for functional cardiac and vascular phenotyping.
    • Perform surgical models including aortic constriction and coronary ligation.
    • Conduct molecular and cellular studies of endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, and iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes to evaluate redox signaling pathways.
    • Perform biochemical and molecular assays including Western blot, ELISA, qPCR/ddPCR, NMR, and mass spectrometry for metabolic and signaling analysis.
    • Design and implement tension assays in isolated vascular rings to assess pharmacologic interventions.
    • Develop and optimize IACUC animal protocols and standard operating procedures.
    • Mentor junior trainees and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within and outside the department.

    Required Skills

    Required Qualifications:

    • Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Cardiovascular Biology, or related field.
    • At least 10 years of postdoctoral or equivalent experience in cardiovascular research.
    • Strong track record of productivity with peer-reviewed publications.

We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, natural or protective hairstyle, religion, sex, age, national origin, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, military service, pregnancy or pregnancy-related condition, or because of marital, parental, or veteran status. We are a VEVRAA Federal Contractor.
