The graduate student worker will be responsible for a range of data entry, data management, critique and analysis activities to support the development and re-launch of the NICHE program evaluation service.
Student worker will contribute to the development and management of three key projects in the evolving NICHE program evaluation portfolio. These projects include:
- Member Knowledge and Practice Assessment Survey
- Year One and Year Two Implementation Survey and Member Progress Reports
- Integrative Review and NICHE Program Outcomes Data.
The specific duties/activities/tasks associated with each of these NICHE program evaluation projects include:
Knowledge and Practice Assessment Surveys
- Assist with fielding the revised Geriatric Institutional Assessment Profile (GIAP) survey in a pilot study. Verify member organizations participating in the pilot survey; generate random samples of nurses on participating units; write and send reminders to promote a high response rate; manage reminder schedule
- Work with statistician, directors, health services research collaborative to analyze GIAP pilot data to revise and finalize survey with the goal of relaunching the GIAP service in fall 2017
- Contribute to adapting the GIAP survey and survey administration protocol for Long-Term/Continuing Care settings
- Serve as the project manager for the new NICHE Nursing Knowledge Assessment tool designed to assess front line nurses’ knowledge of evidence-based practices related to common geriatric syndromes and clinical nursing problems.
- Liaise with NICHE and Meyers faculty to arrange meetings, take meeting notes, follow-up on action items, and contribute to the development of the new assessment tool aligned to the ANCC generalist geriatric nursing practice competences.
- Enter data/upload quiz questions and correct responses for a leading aging knowledge assessment quiz into the NICHE Learning Management System.
- Draft protocols and supporting documents
Year One and Year Two Program Evaluation Survey and Member Reports
- Review practice portfolios using a scoring rubric to assess the development of the NICHE program at member sites. Recommend changes to improve the template design and ease of use for members in the field
- Draft summary letters using a standardized template and recommendations
- Assist with refining data collection templates and processes to collate survey data and support the development of automated member reports
- Contribute to refining practice portfolio template for member hospitals/organizations for the year 1 and year 2 implementation assessment
Integrated Review/NICHE Program Outcomes
- Conduct literature reviews and evidence synthesis and critiques on key topics related to program implementation and clinical practice change in geriatric care
- Create data summary tables and contribute to an integrative literature review paper. (Authorship attribution)
- Map the NICHE program model with the ANCC Pathways to Excellence and Magnet recognition program standards
- Assist directors with identifying topics and contacting speakers/leaders in the field to inform the development of a new webinar series
