ABOUT

Revolution Prep is looking for teachers and tutors to join our online faculty. We look for educators who believe in the value of one-on-one instruction, personalized lesson plans, and have a strong desire to help students achieve their educational dreams.

Over the last 16 years, Revolution Prep has worked with over 1 million students to raise grades and test scores and build stronger, more confident learners. As a faculty member, you will provide individual instruction and mentorship to students in high school and college from all over the world through our online classroom.

Our part-time STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) specialists work from home and set their own schedule; they provide 12 -15 hours of availability per week with a goal of averaging at least 10 hours of instruction per week. Tutors must provide availability within our peak tutoring hours: 2pm-10pm PST (Monday through Friday), 5am-7pm PST (Saturday), and 5am-9pm PST (Sunday). Part-time tutors are required to post some availability on weekends (either Saturday or Sundays).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver exceptional instruction one-on-one and/or hosting our Homework Help service (drop-in service where students can receive help in a particular subject) 10-15 hours per week from a computer in STEM subjects and the SAT/ACT as needed
• Use Revolution Prep's resources and additional online materials to create individualized lesson plans for private tutoring students (high school and college age) primarily in the following subjects: AP Physics, AP Physics C, AP Computer Science, AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC
• Manage the schedules and goals of several students simultaneously
• Submit comprehensive session and student goal video updates to parents each week
• Develop and grow as a holistic mentor to your students, providing clear and specific recommendations for additional work that students should undertake to achieve their goals
• Represent Revolution Prep with the highest level of professionalism at all times

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicant must have expertise in at least one of the following subjects: AP Physics I, AP Physics II, AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism, IB Physics (SL & HL), AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science A, AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC 

Applicant must have expertise in at least one of the following subjects: AP Physics, AP Physics C, AP Computer Science, AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC 

Previous teaching experience and familiarity with the creation of lesson plans

Bachelor's degree from a top school required, advanced degree preferred

High-speed internet, as well as a clean, quiet, professional setting for online sessions

Ability to teach consecutive online tutoring sessions while sitting or standing for extended periods of time

Ability to work during peak tutoring hours during the week

Ability to work on the weekends

Ability to commit to at least 6-months of part-time employment

Embodies a "growth mindset" (unafraid of challenges; adaptable to change; willingness to learn)

Authorized to work in the United States (current residence must also be in the US)

TECHNOLOGY

To be successful in the online tutoring role, your computer must meet the minimum requirements listed below:

• A Mac/PC desktop or laptop
  • Mac users: Mac OS X Snow Leopard (version 10.6) or later
  • PC users: Windows 8.1 or later
• High-speed internet with strong and reliable reception/service
• Speakers and a microphone (built-in, USB plug-in, or wireless Bluetooth)
• A webcam or HD webcam (built-in or USB plug-in)
• 4GB or more of available memory/RAM

COMPENSATION

Our part-time STEM specialists start between $30 to $50 per hour, depending on experience. Part-time Revolution Prep tutors are paid for every hour worked and work from the comfort of their own homes. We are a community of highly skilled, professional educators who enjoy collaborating to share best practices and optimize the online tutoring experience.
