  • Responsibilities

    Responsible for contacting patient or responsible party to notify them of their financial responsibility in a timely and professional manner. Responsible for providing insurance verification quotes to patients and physician offices scheduled in advance for customer service.

    Required Skills

    1. Participates in development of Policies and Procedures within the department.
    2. Perform high quality work.
    3. Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and notify all pertinent team members in a timely manner.
    4. Adheres to Policies and Procedures as defined by Infection Control.
    5. Demonstrates knowledge of hospital billing practices.
    6. Confirms proper demographic, insurance, and financial information from the patient or guarantor and ensure the information in the computer is correct.
    7. Enters information in computer system in an accurate manner.
    8. Capability to work with rigid deadlines while maintain a high degree of accuracy.
    9. Mathematical skills required to calculate percentages, etc.
    10. Possesses the ability to deal tactfully with patients and physician office staff.
    11. Sound knowledge of managed care reimbursement methodologies.
    12. Understanding procedures for calculating patient out-of-pocket responsibilities.
    13. Answers departmental telephones as necessary.
    14. Answers departmental bell for patient assistance.
    15. Maintain continuity of work operations by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs and communicate problems according to established procedures.
    16. Demonstrates knowledge of the various computer systems used at facility.
    17. Assists in answering incoming calls for a high volume phone queue.
    18. Participates in Performance Improvement Plan.
    19. Serves as a resource to other members of the health care team.
    20. Act in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center
    21. Maintain patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy.
    22. Follow the Center's professional conduct and dress code policy.
    23. Communicate effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians and their office staffs, patients and employees.
    24. Assists with other responsibilities of center as deemed necessary by management.

     

    USPI complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce.  If you are offered this position and must be vaccinated under any applicable law, you will be required to show proof of full vaccination or obtain an approval of a religious or medical exemption prior to your start date.  If you receive an exemption from the vaccination requirement, you will be required to submit to regular testing in accordance with the law.
