    This position is responsible for the yearly update of academic bulletins, collaborating with the Athletics Department to determine student athletic eligibility, and articulating courses between La Sierra University and other institutions for current and potential La Sierra University students. Reports to the Registrar.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Updates and publishes the La Sierra University Graduate and Undergraduate Bulletins on a yearly basis.
    • Creates and maintains coding for academic programs, courses, program lengths, and degree types in the University SIS, Banner.
    • Assists in the evaluation of student athletic eligibility on a term-by-term basis in collaboration with the Registrar, Athletics Department, and Faculty Athletics Representative.
    • Works collaboratively with Degree Auditors and Transcript Evaluator to map and enter transfer course articulations into database tables; maintains an online listing of C-ID equivalent course articulation with La Sierra University courses.
    • Reviews incoming transfer course eligibility for prospective students and provides tentative articulation reports showing course transferability to La Sierra University.
    • Processes off campus registration requests to determine transfer course equivalency for current La Sierra students.
    • Maintains the Records Office Policies and Procedures Manual.
    • Maintains the Records Office website, including the academic calendar, registration instructions, transfer articulation tables, and FAQs.
    • Assumes additional responsibilities as the Registrar directs.

    MATH ABILITY:

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

     

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

     

    COMPUTER SKILLS:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Windows environment including the Adobe Suite (particularly InDesign and Photoshop), Microsoft Office, and the Banner computer systems. Ability to operate a computer, calculator, facsimile, copier and other standard office equipment.

    Supervises a student worker.

    Required Experience

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    BACHELOR'S DEGREE (B. A.) FROM FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY, PREFERABLY IN A FIELD THAT STRESSES ACADEMIC WRITING, AND TWO YEARS’ RELATED EXPERIENCE, PREFERABLY IN HIGHER EDUCATION.

     

    OTHER DEMANDS:

    Candidate must have strong attention to detail and follow-through skills. Employee will also need excellent organizational, proofreading/editing, and communication skills.  Design skills preferred.  The ability to understand the importance of and uphold confidentiality regarding records and familiarity with the process and policies of La Sierra University are important.
