Coordinator of Internships PT Location: South Campus Department: Distance Learning Description DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves extending and coordinating the resources of the College and Community to meet identified credit and non-credit internship and coop needs of business and industry. The incumbent works under the supervision of a higher-level administrator. Does related work as required. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Establishes annual goals and objectives for Internship and Cooperative Program; Implements goals and objectives for the Internship and Cooperative Program, Offers and promotes credit courses in conjunction with ECC and local public and private employers; Assists academic departments in development of Internship and Cooperative course offerings in business and industry; Prepares schedules and coordinates advertising and news releases with the Public Relations Department; Provides linkages for academic department programs; Collaborates with the academic departments and the Director of Institutional Research to discuss business and industry needs; Provides outreach support to faculty, academic departments and the College: Maintains the preparation of an appropriate college budget for Internship and Cooperative initiatives; Prepares and maintains records and reports as needed; Speaks to area businesses and various groups in the region about goals and objectives of SUNY Erie Community Colleges Internship/Cooperative Program; Provides a monthly report regarding FTE Credit and non-credit academic department goals; Provides supervisor with a monthly activity report; Surveys the appropriate businesses and industries to request information regarding their needs. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Candidates must be able to demonstrate awareness and sensitivity towards promoting an inclusive and diverse learning environment. Thorough knowledge of the techniques and procedures necessary to effectively coordinate Student Internship and Cooperative learning experiences; thorough knowledge of community college functions; ability to motivate and work effectively with others; ability to set goals and objectives for the program and its off-campus personnel; good judgment; initiative; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Demonstrates a commitment to fostering and advancing a diverse and inclusive work force. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelors Degree and three (3) years experience in education or vocational training, or business management experience which included educational administration and internship/coop duties. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Official transcripts will be required for successful candidates within 30 days of hire.
